You can add another person to the list of being screwed! I'm being charged for brand new carpet for the apartment I was in! They told me that it would be $1200 to replace it and it was far from being brand new when I moved in! They tried to make me feel bad about everything when it was all wear and tear. Plus, I when I cleaned after moving in, I found things that hadn't been done from the last time the apartment was occupied! I had been warned about being charged for completely renovating the apartment after move out by other tenants. I just never thought that it would be so extreme! I've never been charged for anything like this in all of my rental history! It's a crying shame!!!

I think you should do what I did and report them to the attouney generals office the more complaints they get about this particualr place the better.

When I moved out, I caught the manager showering in my apartment one day after I came back for a few last things. She said, "Oh, I didn't know you were still here, I had to take care of some things." The toilet was clogged with crap, her clothes were all over, and there was fast food trash all over the floor. Greasy handprints were on the mirror and there was pubic hair all over in the shower. "You better not charge me for that," I warned her. "You can't prove I was in here," she said. "And I will just repaint and replace the carpeting on your dime anyway."
