Worst Place I have EVER lived!

I started with a mold problem in the ceiling from the upstairs tenant's washing machine leak. The complex came in and PAINTED over the mold for me. I then noticed mold under my bathroom sink from a leaky drain. They again painted over that.

The mold spread into my bedrooms and dining room. I know a mold specialist who looked at it for me and quickly let me know that the complex painting over the previous breakouts had spread these dangerous spores. Now I had a toxic black mold problem running through my apartment. Since the complex would only paint over the problem, I had specialists do the job instead. This involved a lot of loud air purifiers running for days, protective gear, cleaning and sealing.

We found more mold in the bedroom. The office was again notified. This time the manager came in to "inspect" it. I was at work on inspection day and called when I got home to get the results (expecting they would be moving us out of the apartment to fix it or something since it could be deadly). Nobody in the office could tell me anything but "Shelly isn't here right now, you'll have to try tomorrow". This went on for a week. Finally, very rudely, I was told "Listen, if there was a problem during the inspection I'm sure she would have notified you!" My lease was up about two months later so I just started packing my stuff.

Here is the kicker. They lied on the move-out report saying that we smoked in the apartment. This gave them the ability to charge us for paint even though we lived there 4yrs. They also charged us for carpet (even though there was mold in the carpet and it needed to be replaced anyway). I was charged just under $2000 for that place!!! The scary thing is that if they charged me for the paint ... that means they again painted over the problem instead of replacing the drywall which is the only safe solution. There is a family living in there right now. And they might not know that they are getting sick.

My family was ALWAYS sick and ALWAYS tired when we lived there. Please, if my experience can at least mean that somebody else stays away from that place I can accept it a little better.

OH ... AND the paper thin walls thing you keep hearing is very true too. It REALLY does sound like the ceiling is going to cave in on you when people walk above.
