Don?t move here!

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
We?ve had countless problems with neighbors. We?ve had new neighbors knock on our door to tell us that if we need to buy drugs they could hook us up. We?ve had drunk people knock on our door at 3:00 am thinking we were someone else?s house. We?ve woken up at 5:00 am thinking someone was trying to break in, when it was only drunk people drinking and smoking on our doorstep, leaning up against our front door. All day we hear loud bass music. We?ve had to call the police on our neighbors countless times for domestic violence, we?ve even had a neighbor punch a hole in the wall of our common hallway.
When we moved in here I was pregnant, and we specifically asked about noise curfews. We were told that neighbors were allowed to file noise complaints on noisy neighbors, and they would be taken very seriously. We filed countless noise complaints (for good reasons), and no action was ever taken. We eventually gave up, the office doesn?t care what kind of tennants they have as long as they are getting money. The office staff actually became rude to us when we called. We have had our car keyed and our gas syphoned while sitting in the parking lot, and the office staff actually asked us in a condesending way "Are you sure that happened"!
The office says that felons are not allowed to live here, but they obviously don?t do background checks very well. My boyfriend is in corrections and is able to look up addresses in the computer. There are a number of felons who live here including sex offenders.
The parking lot and mail box area is not well lit at all. I feel very unsafe walking to my car at night. There is no way I would walk to the mail boxes after dark.
The play area for kids scary. It is located in a far end of the property, right next to a huge vacant lot, with an old abandoned trailor right in the middle. There is no way I would let a child play there alone even during the day with other children.
From the outside the place looks nice. The landscaping is kept up well. Inside the appliences are cheap, and the walls are thin. They tried to tell us our carpet was new when we moved in but it was stained and had cigarette burns in it.
Prairie View has some deal with Millenium Cable which means that you cannot have any other cable. Millenium SUCKS! We constantly have problems with channels coming in fuzzy or not at all. We have actually canceled our cable in the past because of this. The cable company will come out to fix problem after problem, but as soon as one channel becomes clear another couple channels become fuzzy.
All in all our experience here has been bad. I would definately recommend looking somewhere else to live. I?ve personally lived in much cheaper apartments in worse areas of town and I have never had as many problems as I have here.
