The worst place to live...

I, unfortunatly, signed a 1 year lease. Huge mistake. Besides the non stop noise due to paper thin walls, the mold was extremely bad. I have bad allergies and have had to up my dose since I moved in. Because of the lenient pet policy, there was dog crap every where and the entry to the building always smelled like piss.
The apartment was disgusting when I moved in. They claimed it just got new carpets....yeah, new carpets that reeked of wet dog and with stains all over them. The bathroom was so gross. It looked and smelled like it had never been cleaned. When I went to cpmplian they told me I signed a lease and already took the keys so there was nothing they could do about it. The appliences are so old. My oven never worked right and after the maintence guy came twice, still didnt work properly. The water heater was horrible. I had maybe 10 minutes of hot water for a shower if I was lucky. The maintence guy claimed it was a new water heater and left it at that. The outlets are a hit or miss. Sometimes they work, other times not. I cant tell you how many times I was watching tv or ironing and the outlet decides to stop working. Again to the office with another complaint and I was brushed off and told to reset my stuff.
Now that I am at the end of my lease, I feel like they are trying to get me out as fast as possible with as much of my money as they can get. My water/sewer/garbage bill has been consistant for the whole lease yet all of a sudden it has jumped up $50. Their reasoning is that water prices fluctuate....true but $50 in one month'' yeah f***ing right. Also, the blinds are so cheap they brake so easily. So I have to have them replaced and have been waiting for over a month to "get a quote" from their maintence guys. However, everytime I ask they dont seem to have an answer for me. But guessed it would be somewhere around $100. I could do it myself for $35 at Lowes. At that I was told that the windows were "unique" measurements and the maintaince guy had to do it.
The amenities were a joke. The two dinky pools are a piece of plastic covering sand. The "workout" room had a weight bench (that was missing weights), 2 treadmills (only one of which worked somewhat) and a bike from the '70s (which had duct tape on it and I wasnt about to see if it worked).
This has been the worst place I have ever lived in and the worst experience with "business professionals". The office staff is the worst I have ever seen. If you are considering Prairie View because of the price....Remember that you get what you pay for and you owe it to yourself to live somewhere decent.

I live here at Prairie View and love it! Brand new equipment, high end, in the fitness center. The two pools are nice. The grounds are well kept, dont blame management for the poor dog owners. You knew there were dogs before you signed your lease. Clean your mold up if it that big of a hazzard. Look for the good and you will find it. Apartment communities are always a challenge, you live with over 280 other families. The walls are thin, show me a place that isn't. The maintenance staff & the office staff have always assisted me with my needs. How do you approach them? Are you respectful or demanding? Rapport goes along way!

I agree. I lived there for a year and always found the maintenance staff to be very helpful. Maybe there is new staff, but I do know that you always get a better response if you aren't accusatory or rude. From the sounds of your posting, you probably weren't very pleasant to the staff. Remember, the staff can only do so much - they have a management company to answer to. There is always someone higher up. You should have tried to contact them if you were so unhappy.

I agree with you on everything except the equipment. They just replaced it like a month ago because they knew it was crappy. But overall everything else is accurate. VERY ACCURATE.
