Prairie View Apartments

We had originally moved in after moving cross-country. Trying to get the office to fix anything is next to impossible. There was a problem with mold in some of the apartments, however, now that it's being changed into low-income apartments, they did put in new windows which should help for awhile. They didn't tell anyone that they were do this though, about a month after renewing my lease, I received a surprise letter on my door telling me if I made more than a certain amount, I'd be moving. No choice in the matter. The staff in the office have bad attitudes most of the time as well. Don't bother looking unless you have no choice and you know that you'll meet the new income requirements.

I have lived at the Prairie view apts for 3 years now. It is not a low-income, it is just not high-income. You have to have the income to support living in a larger than normal, nicer than normal, completely remodeled apt unit to live here. The changes being made are great. The staff is as nice as the person who is approaching them. I have found them to be available and fun. I live in a 3brm townhouse with over 1550 sq ft. I get a lot of room for my $$. I love it here. They keep it clean and picked up. Now the other tenents are another story. Some send their kids out to play (annoy the neighbors, run in and out the parked cars, throw things, hit other kids and challenge all authority or adults) and do nothing to supervise and then they are surprised when the notices starting coming about their unruly children. Follow the rules, Respect your Neighbors, Beaware of your noise level and this is a great place to live. I love it!

A family of six is allowed to make a max of $46,000. That's STRETCHING to make ends meet for starters. And you can tell, the "bad" is already here, I plan to be gone before the rest come.

I did make the mistake of moving in.. remodeled yes, but not that well. Big yes but many deceptions when I moved in.. I moved in while the remodeling was in process. I was told by the leasing agent all units were getting brand new stainless steal appliances. Unfortunately this only occured in some of the units and mine was not one!! We had one pool and a weight room and a second pool that wasnt in use. I was told again when I moved in it was being converted to a sports court, it has been filled and turned into a toddler playground. The weight room is GONE and a daycare will now go in its place.. To the first responder this is a LOW INCOME Apartment complex!! They accept section 8 and with that comes the police here all the time and unruly kids that bully and pick on smaller kids. My kids bikes have been stolen out of my storage and neighbors cars have been broken into. Now are remaining pool will be made a sprinkler park oh boy!! All I can say is I will move when my lease is up I will pay higher rent to have the things that every Apartment community should have pool and weight room. As a mother of three this was very important to me as we spend a lot of time at the pool. And Yes the bad is here and wont get better I moved from a other apartment complex because it was 1150 in sq ft and would move back in a minute. I was fooled by Prairie view and I do believe they should have asked tenants there opinion or at least announce what is going on in the complex, we as renters should have had a say or vote in these decisions but instead were kept in the dark and deceived in my opinion.

First off, I've been here over a year and yes, not all the people are great. But there are a lot of them who are good people just struggling like the rest. This complex is not the best and it's not the worst. The staff has always been friendly amidst all the changes that have been going on around here. If you want utopia go somewhere else. As far as the unruly kids, any problem I've had I go directly to the parents and they have always been workable. Renter beware yes, but if you are looking for a place to get back on your feet again until you move on this works.

To the person above, what complex do you live in, let me tell you...I have the unruly teens/kids where I am, yes I talk to their parents, no it does no good, they are as bad or worse than the teens/kids! my area is always filled with the teens mostly, looking for cigarettes, drugs, breaking into our cars..the dumpster is always over flowing, the office staff is very rude!Usually Collene is nice, and helpful though. I moved in here with the expectations that this was a decent, quiet, safe community, this was told to me by the office staff...this has proved to be not true. For the first year here it was nice, quiet and safe, Soon as they started taking in anyone that could pass the low income requirements, the place went to h3ll! My car, and my neighbors cars have been broken into. The teens hang in the common areas and disrupt our peace and quiet. If you can find one of their parents to advise them of this, you might as well be talking to a wall. I found most i have talked to, to be as bad or worse then their child. I talk to them with respect and got a f*** you in response. This place is the scum pit of Orchards and only getting worse. If you take the time to read the others comments you will see a lot of us are moving as soon as our lease is up, and that we all have similar complaints. As to the comment of a good place to get back on your feet again, No it is not! I moved in here not because i was low income, but because i saw they were remodeling and making an effort to have a nice apartment complex with a new owner, and it may have been if they had taken the time to check out the prospective tenants. I do want utopia, i expect and demand it! I will be leaving soon, it sounds like you fit right in here, so remember your comments here when your property gets damaged or taken by the scum that is moving here,,,Do not move here, run, this is not the place a decent hard working family should be, you work hard for your stuff, protect it by finding a different residence.
