Bells and whistles are not worth it

You're on a budget, lower income, yet need a nice place to live. Well, don't consider Springfield as an option.

The thing is, the rent starts out as semi-affordable but once your lease is up, they raise the price at an unaffordable rate. Now you're lower income, with high rent, and stuck!

This system, that involves govt. subsidies is not the best option for low income/restricted income people. You cannot go to school full-time when you live here either, so don't think about "bettering" yourself to dig yourself out of the hole that you've fallen into.

Instead, take on the 290 other neighbors all situated within a block with minimal parking, lots of misguided/unsupervised bored kids and you have a formula for disaster. I was lucky to live in a building that only had a few kids, others are not as lucky.

My patio furniture was stolen. Don't live on a ground unit.

The Business Center (computer room with internet) concept was attractive to me in the beginning. I could check email, work on things, without having an additional bill. Why not' Well, the business center concept is incredibly flawed. Pre-teens and teens use this as a mecca to chat in cyberspace, exchange gang information, or use it as an arcade. The business center concept is not enforced at all. Don't even think about trying to use a computer when you need it. Chances are, some middle-schooler is surfing myspace or listening and watching music downloads. When confronted, they throw fits and head outside into the parking lot figuring out where your car is. Management did not want to hear my thoughts on this subject at all. Nor did they entertain the idea of opening a "strictly game room" area for all of the unsupervised kids so that some computers could be strictly for gaming etc.

Plus, there are countless sex offenders who live within a few mile radius that were seen on site within the time that I lived there. This neighborhood includes the McDonald's worker who was killed by a stranger while working.

The move-out procedure is disturbing. Frankly, they should let you know of consumable items before you move in that they WILL charge you for when you move out. Although I cleaned my drip-pans, the maintenance person asked me if they were new, I said no.... I was charged $15 to replace them. There is nothing wrong with the pans. No dents, no dirt, none are missing....Also, they charge $65 to paint the apartment when I move out. I have never had an apt. complex charge me ever! The walls are the same color as they were when I moved in. I don't smoke. I didn't ruin any paint, nor produce any holes etc. My security deposit does not have MY security in mind.

All in all I am glad that I got out of there. I discourage anyone from considering this apartment complex. Yes, I know, apartments usually have social issues due to the proximity of neighbors, yet many of the issues at Springfield meadows are not managed effectively or efficiently. Then again, why should they care to manage when some of them only receive $7.50 /hr....'

The cycle of poverty lives within the teal, maroon and black buildings and includes an indoor gym, workout room, theater room, business center, pool, and tanning. Bells and whistles that look desirable from the outside, but take it from me, ARE NOT WORTH IT!

Extremely well put. And very few residents with children care what their kids are doing or with whom. I can't tell you how many times our neighbor's 2 y/o was almost hit in the parking lot because it was outside by itself at all hours with zero supervision. Heck, most of the time the parents weren't even home, much less watching their 5 kids.

And I'm not some single person without a family. I'm married with three kids. Many of the other residents just don't have ANY respect for anyone else around them, and teach that to their kids.
