An Honest Opinion

I've lived in these apartments for about a year now and I've found them to be pretty good. It's kind of a mixed bag living here. There's a lot of nice things, then there are some annoyances.
1. The apartments themselves: I have a bottom 3 bedroom apartment that I really like. The layout is great and they give you a nice big closet in the master bedroom. The master bath has built in shelves, but the main bath seems to be very large and mostly empty. The windows are huge and well insulated. Closing them shields you from most outside noises. The carpet is average, but I love the tile entryway. Our apartment has some advantages for disabled residents in that is has special low counters and really wide hallways. We didn't have a fireplace, but most other 3 bedrooms do. The refrigerator seems small, but there is adequate cabinet space. I do not like the kitchen sink. The faucet seems rather unsupported and the overall material seems flimsy. I also do not care much for the washer. It's rather loud, even with the door closed. The ceiling doesn't seem to have as much noise insulation as do the side walls. I could hear my upstairs neighbors too well. Of course, they do have children, so if you get upstairs neighbors with no kids you probably won't hear the same foot stomping that I did. The outside patio is big enough and the storage closet outside has plenty of room. I love the garage we rented and have no problems storing stuff.
2. The grounds: Very well landscaped. I like them a lot. We live in a section that looks out on the playground and that is quite new and quite well maintained. Of course, we have a child ourselves and she's constantly out on the playground. There are parents who do supervise the children while outside (I am one of them) and generally the kids haven't caused any problems. The apartment location is next to the middle school soccer grounds, so Saturday mornings you're likely to see a soccer game outside. One thing I must complain about is the dumpsters. For some odd reason, management got rid of the two dumpsters and went with just one. This causes trash to pile up outside the dumpster, especially on weekends. I am going to let management know my displeasure with this, however, and since the dumpsters are behind gates, it's not a deal breaker. Parking is adequate, though if you don't have a garage or carport you are going to occasionally have to walk. Management did try and address this issue, however, and built a small addition to the parking lot near the back of the complex. The pool is quite nice and the spa is quite inviting.
3. Crime: I did have my car prowled on one occasion when thieves broke my window and made off with my DVD player case. They didn't actually get my DVD player, but still the fact that it happened made me careful about what I leave in my car. In my opinion, that could've happened at any other apartments and there hasn't been any instances of other major crimes in the area or transients going through garbage while I've been living here.
4. Management and maintenance: I've found management to be quite responsive and even eager to work with people. Management even tries to hold one event every other month or so to get residents together in the clubhouse. Their Christmas event was particularly enjoyable and quite a few residents showed up. Maintenance came out and fixed a couple of minor problems with my apartment quite rapidly and the maintenance person was very courteous in addressing my concerns.
5. Final thoughts: Yes, we've had some problems here with people not following the rules concerning dog waste and the occasional Honda going through the parking lot at high speed. But management did try to address the latter by repairing the speed bumps and there's not much they can do about the former unless they catch them in the act. Aside from the dumpster problem, this place has been on of the better places I've lived in and I would recommend it to my friends.
