You definitely get what you pay for, which isn't much!
It was extremely difficult to even get the apartment. This should have been my sign. I scheduled two appointments (one to look at the apartment and another to sign my lease). When I showed up to the appointment, the office was closed and the manager was no where in sight.
I moved in just before the 2008/2009 winter storms - grateful to be in a "complex" so I wouldn't have to worry about snow removal - boy was I wrong! They did not plow the parking lot, which made it very difficult to get in and out. Additionally, I couldn't find a snow shovel anywhere in town (to dig myself out) because of the severe weather. At one point the parking lot was so bad, I had to park down the road and walk home to guarantee I would be able to get to work the next day.
I don't believe the apartment had been cleaned prior to me moving in. The baseboard heaters had a lot of dust on them. The air conditioner had so much dust in it that it took nearly an hour to clean, and it still was not "clean". The walls have food smudges from whoever lived in it prior to me, there were spider webs in the corners of the ceilings, and the porch light was burned out.
Additionally, if you are sensative to cigarette smoke - beware! I think I was exposed to more cigarette smoke living there than anywhere else I have lived.
I am not sure if it would have been a different experience in another apartment of theirs, but it was not what I was expecting!

I feel the same way, this is one of the worst places I have lived, had to throw away food that little black bugs got into, hotwater tank works for 10 min.(maybe) This last winter, you was lucky to pay your rent in the drop box because of the ice and snow. Some of the stairs fell and was not fixed right away( fire escape?) Managers are hardly in there office. Owners are fooled!
