I would not recommend anyone spend there money at a place like this.
I've dealt with car salesman i respect more than the so called manager.
I paid for my last full month of rent, and was asked by the manager to let him
know if I left early, he told me if i left early and my apartment was clean.
Not only would I get my cleaning deposit back but i would also be pro-rated money
back from someone moving in early.
So i cleaned my apartment, gave him my keys and left, with a promise that my cleaning deposit may even come back to me early, yay for me!!! :(
Luckily for me but not for him, two of my friends who live in the complex
called me one day to let me know that their were people moving into my apartment.
Which i thought funny as it was still mine for the following four days.
Also who knows when these people had received there keys, because I called that day
and the "manager" wasn't even in town.
I left a message he did not call me back, on the last day of the month I called
him, talked to him about the situation and asked him if he planned on refunding me as I paid for the whole month. He told me no, he said he had made no profit off the early move in. Which anyone with half a brain, knows that whether or not he made a profit, does not mean he can move someone in before my time is up.
I said i guess i should have kept my keys, and his response was mmm hmm.
I did finally receive my cleaning deposit, a month to date from when I moved out.
I never received a call from the owners of the apartment complex, although I'm sure their "manager" did not pass them the message to call me, im sure you're surprised right!
On top of all this, the pool was closed for almost the whole month of june, the pond is always broken, and you are not allowed to have any car other than your own in the complex, even though there are plenty of spaces, this rule however does not seem to apply to everyone. I'd rather live in a box than move back into that place. And if you do, keep clear paper trails, note all conversations, and expect to be dissapointed

As a past manager for many different type of rental properties....I can tell you that the property management company that keeps your deposit until move out, only had a total of 14 days to either refund your money in full or send you written letter explaining why you were not given your deposit back. Even though you paid your rent through the end of the month, the majority of landlords, property management companies do not refund any unused portions. However, if you move in say in the middle of the month they will pro rate that month. I wouldn't turn in keys until the very last day of the month in the future if you have issues with giving up a few dollars from the remainder of that month. While he may not have made a "profit" he was able to rent that apartment immediately after you vacated. Which tells me he did pro rate it for the new tenants so not only did you pay for that full month, but the new tenants paid for whatever remaining days were in that month. Whom ever owns the complex did profit, but not by much. As soon as you moved out it would be my guess he changed the locks on that unit....if he was a smart manager he would have anyway. Just a bit of friendly advice for future reference. I'll keep your info in mind when looking for an apartment in Walla Walla here in the near future. Thanks!!!
