Nice, but pricey

This complex is well constructed; the apartments are quiet, and attractive. I live in McCarthy Creek Apartments (basically Silver Springs has three different complexes, but everyone has access to the clubhouse/gym/pool.)
The maintenance is very responsive and the manager really does seem to care, and the parties, although not frequent, are nice. I have to admit I'd never seen ceramic tile in an apartment before this one. I have a gas fireplace also (not in every unit) and that's nice to use in the winter. Heat is included.
Now for the quibbles: Lack of central air conditioning. While this complex is FAR from being the only one to not offer this feature, and the wall unit DOES adequately cool the main living area, the bedrooms are hot. Possibly because I'm on the second floor, this was worse for me than a ground floor apartment. This is somewhat mitigated by the ceiling fan in the master bedroom. I do realize that central AC is not common in this area, but for the rent they charge, it could have been installed in the units.
Lack of towel racks/medicine cabinets in the bathrooms. The bathrooms are very nice, with marble countertops, but a medicine cabinet would be really nice. Also, there's only one towel rack...not a problem in the half bath, but it is annoying in the master bath.
Finally, the cost of the rent itself. While this complex does offer many features that are not widely avaialable in the area (clubhouse, gym, pool, whirlpool, sauna) I really don't think they're worth $100-200/month more than the average for a similar apartment elsewhere. Ultimately, that's why I moved out.
