RENTER BEWARE!!!!!

My Wife and I, moved here a year ago. I seriously regret coming here! Let me share with you from OUTSIDE the Building-into the INSIDE.
First off, there is not ample lighting outside this place! Cars are often broken into and damaged. The kids play baseball and basket ball, skate board on the parking lot grounds, even though it is not allowed. Cars get scratched and dented often. The car door handles get ripped off even!
The front walk way bricks are not even. My wife has stumpled and torn her shoulder cup! I found out after the fact, that the option is avalaible from management for a "incident report". (Management DOES NOT tell you everything)
The Trash Bin area, trash is often not thrown into the bins. This is something of a problem for encouraging mice and rats.
There is (suppose) to be a Pet Area. Management says that it is kept cleaned up or they fine those who don't pick up after their pets...NOT TRUE. My grand children have gone out to play on the lawn areas, only to come in with shoes that needed to be washed because of dog poop! Or dog poop that they slide in, on their clothing! You can imagine what a mess this is!
There really is no area for the children to play at, like a play ground or even a picnic area. This is not really a place for young children to live at.
My BIGGEST COMPLAINT about OUTSIDE IS, is there are NO SECURITY CAMERAS. Management claims, it would cost too much money! For the amount of Rent paid here...I seriously doubt that! And since this is a Historical Place, it should be even more protected by the owners. But sadly, it is not.
INSIDE: the place is not kept very clean at all. In fact, it is not uncommon to see inside vandelism done. There is a Computer Room on the FIrst Floor, for everyone to use. Damage has been done to the equipment to that area and equipment rather often. At times, Management has Restricted that rooms use, which affects ALL the tenants! Just because of a few "bad apples". Teens have been caught in there, accessing PORN!
The Stair Cases are a huge problem area because the teens like to hang out in there. Last year, we had the screens cut and slashed, which meant constant repair. Repairs made, cause Rent to go up. Again, a few "bad apples" fall on everyone to pay for!
There is a Laundry Room on the Second Floor. The machines are not kept up. Often, they do not work. Management, may or may not give you your money back. The Dryers you have to use more then three times, to just dry one load. And lint is built up in vents, which I am sure is part of the problem. They really are not machines to be used by a large group of people, which is also part of the problem.
Third Floor, there is a Exercise Room. That room is so HOT. The fan that is in there, is always broken! I personally stopped using that room because the ceiling appears to be "wet". With a room that hot and without proper ventilation, I don't know what all is breeding in there and I am not about to take the risk. I go to an outside Gym, that I feel is much safer.
The Forth Floor, that is the worst area in the building for the smell of pet urine and waste. The Buildings Boiler Room is also there, which is a VERY LOUD. You can hear it all the way in the halls, I can not imagine what it would be like to live anywhere near or below that Boiler Room Area. (We live on the other end of the building) But we do have friends who live in the Boiler Room area and it is a Huge Problem for them!
Management is okay to deal with, AS LONG as you DO NOT make complaints! She might take care of matters once or twice but after that, you will not get to much help. They want the job title and the money for the position, but not the work or responsiblity that comes with it. Our biggest problem, has been Management!!
The people who move into this place are according to Management, "screened". I highly doubt this because there are many things in this building that should not be allowed and yet are.
There are many other reasons WHY I DO NOT RECOMMEND PEOPLE RENTING AT THE BEAVER DAM SHOE FACTORY. Age is a issue to consider. Health Problems are another or things here that could affect your health. As I said, my wife and I seriously regret living here. It has not been a "HOME" like feeling, since we moved in here, no matter what we try to do. We are looking forward to moving out. Just like the other people we knew here, who had problems too, the only thing to really look forward too IS MOVING OUT!
You will not find A HOME FELT PEACE HERE. NOR, will you feel SAFE!

This is SO VERY TRUE! It is a Horrorable Place to Live! Not worth the money you pay each month for rent. Management is TERRIBLE! It is a very dirty place, inside and out. Security is terrible, people Buzz in whoever rings up their apartment. Lighting outside is bad! Cars often damaged, broken into and air let out of tires. Parents work, kids left unsupervised often which results into TROUBLE! Issue of Mold. I rented here and I can not tell you how much of a Regret and years headache it was! Not worth it, at all. Check out Realitors, who have private homes for rent or units. But PLEASE DO NOT rent at the Shoe Factory!

Terrible-Terrible-Terrible Place! The SHOE FACTORY in BEAVER DAM, WISCONSIN is exactly what these Reviews say it is. DO NOT RENT THERE! The Responses to the reviews that put down the reviews made, are from Management! It is Very Important that the Negetive Truth about that place, doesn't get out! Renter Beware. It is Exactly as the people who have written, have said it is. The complaints made about the place are just the beginning of the problems there! It is a Money Waste. It is a place that is totally unkept, poor management, it is not a Secure Buidling, it is not a Safe place to live or have a family at. Not a single person that I met, while living there was satisfied living there and those who were moving out, couldn't get out of there fast enough. Most count down the months, if not days till the lease runs out. Most make House Payments LESS then what the Shoe Factory charges! It is a miserable place to rent from and most of which is because of Management. The Manager that we had before this one, was SUPER and the one before her, was SUPER. They were Professional is their duties and yet also were a sincere caring person. Rules applied to ALL Tentants, regardless of their personal feelings towards different ones. Company policy was followed and it was obvious because the place was well kept. When the Manger before the one now, left...my husband and I moved out! Do Not Rent from that place. And pay attention to the reviews. The ones who cut down the reviews, are just trying to make those of us with honest complaints-seem like we were just unhappy tentants. Tentants can Tell You, first hand..what it is like to live there. And we are trying to get the word out that the Shoe Factory IS NOT a place you want to move too. Which Management Does Not want to be expressed! You can tell by the One Response to this posting..obviously !

We knew people who had been renters at this place. But we wanted to check it out on our own and form our own opinion. We visited the apartment, spoke to the nicest tentants who live there now. And we are happy to say, we are renting someplace else until we can afford to buy our own home. The reviews that we read, were not far off from what we had heard, what we saw and what we were told.
