Even though they haven't rented out the apartment, they won't allow me to pay extra money to extend the lease for one day. They said I'd have to pay for 2 weeks. Since My next place isn't available until the day after, I'll have to rent a truck for an additional day and get a hotel room for a night. They don't even have a reason other than that it is there policy. This to someone who has never paid rent late or caused any problems. I'd definately avoid them.

Yes, it is our policy and based on Fair Housing laws it is the same policy for all of our residents and is written so in the lease. However; when this resident initially called he said he needed the apartment for 4 or 5 days. Although his apartment had not been rented yet, we do not have much availability, and had scheduled for contractors to paint and clean then apartment. It wasn't until days later that he said he only needed it for one day past his lease term since his other apartment was not ready for him yet (not our fault). We did agreed to allow him to stay one more day for his convenience.
