Glorified College Dorm Housing

My husband and I lived in this complex while we were both completing our last year of college. We were excited about the trails, the bus stop nearby, and the relatively cute apartment. We did like the new appliances and it was far enough away from Water Street to avoid the drunk traffic. The view was great, and the rooms were modern and sizeable with walk-in closets.

However, during the summer, the party room gets rented out and people throw huge parties. You will often see people puking in the lawn and the hallways smell like beer for days. A couple of times we had people pounding on our door in the middle of the night thinking our apartment was someone else's. We also had some issues with the management. We always found warning papers on our car threatening to tow us, even though we always had it properly tagged. Parking is a joke. Unless you get done with work by 7, you will not get a parking space in the lot and will be forced to park your car on busy Water Street. Or, you could pay them MORE and get a garage space that you will often times not be able to get into because the people in the lot have squeezed in so many cars that they barracaded you in/out.

Moving out was a nightmare, they make you get the carpet cleaned before you move out (which was absurd to us because we have lived in three Saint Paul buildings and still have never been in one that requires that). There are only two cleaners that will work with that building as well. They kept half of our security deposit for cleaning, even though we spent 3 hours scrubbing and replaced everything from light bulbs to drip pans.

Really, the only reason I recommend this complex is because it is much better than the other apartments in the area. It is secure and in a safe area, which cannot be said for the other buildings near Water Street that are generally gross and poorly managed. Take it for what it's worth.
