This place sickens me.

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
Ever since we moved in, we have had problems. When we first looked at the apartment, we kind of fell in love, but that did not take much since we were both coming out of one bedroom efficiencies.
First of all, the cable only runs to the two bedrooms via a hole drilled in the wall on either side of the bedroom. There is a splitter where the cable comes into the apartment, and then the cable runs under the electric heat baseboard. Once it gets into the master bed, you have to tug on the cord to get it to hook up to anything...then, if you tug too hard, you pull the tv off of the stand in the second bedroom, since it is all connected.
We loved the fact that heat was included...yeah right! When it started getting down into the negatives this winter, our apartment was usually 55 degrees! (which is a violation...) If you have this problem, call the housing authority to document it, because the apartment managers sure do not care! When we try to turn up the dial on the baseboard, it does nothing. I can turn it up as high as it goes or down as low as it goes, and the temp never changes. We asked if we had control of the heat, to which they replied "Ha ha, yeah, not really." Pretty rude response.
Ever since we moved in, the toilet in the "Master" bedroom/bathroom has run for about 10 minutes everytime you flush it. We told them about it, and they said they would get right on it. 3 months later they had "annual inspections" and we came home to the water shut off to our toilet, with a note on it asking us not to use it until they fix it. "Will fix asap" That was three weeks ago today, so now we are paying for a 2bed 2 bath, and we really don't have 2 baths.
Plus, their way of notifying you that they are coming into your house is to stick a piece of paper in your door saying they are going to!
Before we moved in, we told them we had two cats. When we signed the lease, they must not have put them on because 2 months later, they questioned my boyfriend if we have cats and then told us we now had an extra $200 deposit we had to come up with, adding $50/month to our rent for four months. When he went to pay rent the third of these four months' They again forgot that we had cats and said he was overpaying and that they would be able to refund it. He had to remind them again, hey cats!
Then there is the neighbors...Most of them are pretty nice, give us no hell. Our neighbor directly above us is a whole different story. I think he might be a retired insomniac as he is walking around usually until three or four in the morning, and at it again around 8 or nine. There is nothing wrong with that, other than the fact that the floors/ceilings are so thin that every single move he makes scares the cats it is so loud in our apartment.
The parking kind of sucks, especially in the winter. For those of us that like to park near our apartment, but work second shift, your car has to be out of "your" main side of the lot between the hours of 9 am and 1 pm. The other lot is plowed between 1 pm and 5pm. I usually leave around 3, so this means I have to go out right at 1 and move my car, otherwise they asses a $10 fine added to your rent...also, the little light that is out there is hardly adequate, and the "driveway" is a deathtrap!
Also, the "master bath" is misrepresented on their little flyers...in the layout picture it shows the master bath to have a bathtub; it actually has a stand up shower. I personally had to epoxy and caulk the metal drain part of the shower drain on because it was just set on the bottom of the shower, not attached by any means.
The light in the kitchen is a problem. You can put two bulbs in, but sometimes, for whatever reason (they have yet to fix or explain this problem to us) one of the bulbs goes out, leaving the kitchen with "dirty" lighting. The kitchen is also depressingly small, with hardly any cupboard or counter space. The dishwasher only gets the dishes clean if there is nothing on them to begin with, and it seems it must be outdated.
By westwinds, they really do mean it is windy out. And wind carries TONS of garbage. We always have trash littering the parking lot, the little bit of lawn, and the bushes that are on either side of the driveway.
All in all, the managers assistant has no clue what is going on half the time, a dolt basically. I can't wait to get someone to take over our apartment so we can get the heck out of there, it is so not worth what we are paying! We have only lived there six months and will hopefully be out ASAP (a faster asap than the toilet being fixed!)
