Do Not Live On First Floor Units

I only lived in Manchester Oaks for 7 months and it was the longest time of my life. We loved the layout of the 2 bedrooms on the first floor (alot of windows, nice galley style kitchen), but then the bugs came. First is was alot (and I mean hundreds) of small spiders coming in underneath the front door (the office "called" an exterminator, who walked around my patio, saw nothing, and left), then there were the larger spiders coming in from the mouldings (if you lifted the carpeting in the bedrooms at the corners, you could see the lawn...nice huh'), finally there was the earthworm crawling one night across the living room carpet. That was it. We forced management to allow us to live in one of their "corporate rentals" for a week (since every time I tried to go to sleep in my own apartment, it felt like things were crawling all over me). The corporate "big wigs" came for an inspection, and when we mentioned the lack of insulation underneath the carpeting, we were given an "ummm...we'll check on that (which they didn't)." We also had to deal with an upstairs neighbor who kept all of her trash stuffed in her garage (to the point that it was sticking out of the bottom and smelled if you were within 100 yards of our apartment) and had a pre-teen son who would stand at the corner of our driveway and yell obscenities as we passed. We finally threatened to sue the management company if we were not allowed to break our lease. It was a horrible experience and judging from some of the other comments, it doesn't sound as if it has changed. That is dissapointing :(

We live in a first floor apartment (for 7 months so far) and have no major problems with bugs/spiders. Just the normal here and there. We do not live on Parkedge by the woods though so maybe that makes a difference?

We lived on a first floor unit for 4 years and also had a continuous spider problem. The spider problem we had and other residents bug complaints tells me that the downstairs units have a basic construction problem that the owners need to solve.
We moved, not because of the bugs, we moved to another nice complex closer to my Wife's work. We would live here again if the location were convenient for us.
