I have lived here since 2004 and don't have a problem. The apt. is very
spacious and rent is reasonable. When I need maintenance the response
has, for us, been very fast and the problem's fixed. Yes, there are
way's they need to improve. Snowplowing is poor, lawn care minimal,
and blacktop driveway's definitely need fixing. On the whole though
we are happy here.

Maintenance may have fixed something for you, my guess is it was very simple or not in the past 3 months. The new maintenance crew will steal anything they see. Do not trust them! They have even solen dog tie outs & chainds in front of buildings they are "working" in. I would not allow them into my apartment for any reason. I would prefer to hire someone honest & who knows what they are doing. So far I have been lucky enough I have been able to fis things myself. I plan to get out of this dump as soon as my lease is up. If this is such a great place, why so many empty apartmens? The rent is lower than most in the area, the it really is a slum.

Maybe the maintenance crew could have time to fix more around here if they weren't so busy cleaning up dog crap from all the irresponsible dog owner's. And as far as the accusation's of dishonest maintenance that is a bunch of lie's. One should not falsely accuse, unless you have proof. If tenant's are so unhappy here MOVE. I don't work here or know anyone that does. I'm just satisfied with my apt. |

I agree there are alot of dog owners who do not clean up after their dogs. But does management DO anything about it? NO! & they do NOT go clean it up. That is a thing from the past not those who collect paychecks here now. And 3 people have seen the maintenace people stealing. There was a witness to the above theft also, someone who was walking their dog. I do have a dog & clean up after him EVERY time. There are plenty who do not. There are also children who are not watched or cleaned up after & adults who litter so before you say ALL dog owners cause the mess ask WHEN will management follow through & put a stop to those who do not clean up? Curt was one of the worst. He seldom cleaned up after his big dog. Even the mail people complained about him & nothing was ever done! You SAY you do not work here & do not know anyone who does, I find that hard to believe. Do you never step outside your apartment? Are you really that out of touch with reality? Or maybe you like living like this. You say we should just move, but we have leases. If we had not been lied to we would never have moved here, we WILL move as soon as our lease is up, the same as most people here do. I know my neighbor has been here several years & he says this has been the worst year yet & he will move @ the end of his lease.

I have to laugh at "amisatisfied07"'s post. In all the time I lived here; I have NEVER seen maintenance cleaning up after people's dogs. NEVER. I am also a responsible dog owner, as are the majority of tenants who live at Mission Hills. I have complained to the office about tenants who don't pick up after their dogs, and even suggested they put out dog trash stations (like they have on the trail). AND I have cleaned up all the stuff around my apartment. But nothing changes. Why don't tenants MOVE if they are unhappy? Duhhh.... they ARE moving. Why do you think there are so many empty units? I stay because I like the area, AND my neighbors. But that doesn't change the fact that the people who own Mission Hills don't seem to care about their tenants. And when I signed my lease it was a contract between BOTH parties. I shouldn't be the only one holding up my part of the deal... |

I'd like to interject my thoughts on the above comments. To the original poster, I've also been here since 2004 and have had no problems with maintenance fixing any issue I've had. Yes elderlytenant, one was a major break in the last 3 months. Snowplowing, lawncare and potholes are definitely a problem. To elderlytanant: I think I know about the tie out stake you refer to. It was left there by a previous tenenat who lived on the second floor and shouldn't have been there, because dogs need to be supervised when outside. The stake was toward the middle of the yard, which is public property. The chain was too long and allowed the dog access to the front door, which is a public door. Tenants and visitors walking in/out the door should not be subject to a greeting by a barking dog or a dog asking someone to pet him or worse a bite! The "stolen" tie out was probably simply removed because it shouldn't have been there in the first place. To amisatisfied: To my knowledge, the maintenance crew don't spend time cleaning dog waste. You may be referring to the time recently when Franklin cited Mission Hills for unsanitary conditions along the Scepter Dr stretch. It was an atrocity and shouldn't have been allowed to escalate as it did. To Anonymous: I too have a dog and never leave home without the trusty bags. I agree that we have irresponsible dog owners who are inconsiderate of other people. You wonder when management will DO something about it. I believe they already have. There is a $50.00 fine for not picking up. My question to you is, how many times have you reported the offender? Without knowing who is breaking the rule how can they DO something about it? Small children riding bikes and playing in the parking lots is a real safty issue. I've told the office about it. So far I don't think they've established a rule against it. When one of the kids, who's parents don't care and weren't watching them in the first place gets hit by a car, sues Mission Hills and the driver of the car, maybe a rule with a fine attached will be put in place. I can't comment on the theft you know of because I've never seen any or heard of any. To MHTenant: I agree that the majority of people who live here are responsible dog owners. It's the few who aren't who are causing problems for the rest of us. I too have picked up dog waste around my apartment. I offer bags to anyone I see who looks like they have "forgotten" theirs. I've also picked up cigarette butts thrown out by irresponsible people. Again my qusetion would be, when you complained to the office, did you give them a name? At the very least a description of the dog?Nothing much can be done unless we help catch these people. With enough fines being levied, it would stop. Your idea about the waste receptacles is a good one. If waste stations are financially prohibitive because of the need to replenish bags, a simple garbage can would suffice. A dark color placed under trees in open areas where dogs are usually walked, wouldn't detract too much. Of course they'd need to be emptied on a regular basis, which may incur some cost, but those of us with animals already pay extra for the privilege, so the cost would be covered. Have you suggested that? Although Mission Hills is deteriorating I don't believe it's a dump or a slum, as someone mentioned. If I did, I wouldn't be here. We have a nice community of generally friendly considerate people. There are improvements to be made. If the owner/owners put out the effort to fix pot holes, cut grass and shrubs, fix rotting balconies, shampoo hall carpeting, paint hallways, fix fallen and hanging siding, etc, Mission Hlls would again be a home to be proud of. As of now, it is what it is. When our leases are up we have the option to move, as many others have already done. |

I sent a message to Ronda (she said she forwarded it to you) about wanting to get clip boards for the property, I wanted to put one in each of the water rooms for the paperwork that is kept in the room, because now it is hanging all over the pipes. I also needed one for the office because mine broke.
