After living in American Colony and living here until my lease is up I would say that when you go in to look at the apartments and looking for a place to stay, they are very kind to you and willing to help you with anything. I got an apartment that was remodeled due to a fire earlier. The remodeling was very nice and pretty. I like all the features it gives you but there are the problems of it being an older apartment. My central air went out 3 times over this summer in which they said the central air unit was new
Knowing that my security deposit will not be returned is a little disappointing. Part of my complaint here well the only one really.. I have a neighbor that moved in below me and smokes 24/7 and the odor is coming into my apartment. Management thinks that is not possibleWell good luck on the apartment search. If you are looking for an ok place to stay this is good. I was happy with my living until the smoke came into my habitat. (I dont smoke).
The pool is a plus, its actually a pretty deep pool and there are not always a lot of people there. The fitness room isnt really a fitness room but what can you say for an apartment this old.
Plenty of parking here. Many older people live in the apartments and that helps keep it safer in the neighborhood.
Washer and Dryer in the apartment is a plus. The bedrooms are pretty large. The bill in the summer time is quite expensive... and if you live in a one bedroom apartment you only have two windows 780 Sq Ft. with only two windows you dont get a lot of sunlight in the apartment and the heat stays inside them very well and so if the central air goes out good luck with that heat its torture.
All other features are great. I agree on the need to have multiple trips by maintenance to came and fix a problem. My door frame is poor because the foundation is shifting. The door lets some cold air in or warm air in.
The Bathroom is a little older. Could use some better fix-r-up. Very clean though I might add.
Heather and Annie are good girls to talk to and they are very friendly.
I havent had any crime problems here either. Neighbors seem fairly nice.

As the manager, I would just like to comment on this review. When this gentleman complained of a smoke odor from his neighbor, nobody in this office ever intended to give him the impression that we didn't believe that this was happening. Maintenance has been in his apartment attempting to remedy this situation and we are continuing to work on this issue until the smoke odor improves. Our lease does not prohibit smoking in the apartments, so asking the neighbor to stop can be a little tricky. I can only imagine that communities that have common hallways instead of private entrances (like American Colony) experience this problem to a much greater extent. I sincerely hope that we are able to make this resident happy in his home and we will continue to work towards that goal. I would also like to add that we appreciate the ratings and feedback on this web site so that we can continue to make necessary changes and improvements to this excellent community.
