Not the greatest - OK, downright BAD

From: -Anonymous-
Date posted: 9/27/2005
Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005

The Bads:
heaters leave black all over the walls.
cheap paint comes off when you try to wash off the black marks or whatever.
public laundry breaks down often and eats quarters, as of 2005 1.25 each load for each machine - washer and dryer (so 1 load is 2.50 to wash and dry).
neighborhood hotrodders in the middle of the night (squeeling tires, loud exhaust... like we moved next to a drag strip or something).
Silverfish - that's a bug - I've killed one or two every night for the last six months.
Towel bar in the bathroom hanging on by a thread - maintenance guy has reinstalled it several times in the last couple of years.
Hallway carpet is FILTHY - do not go barefoot.
Sound comes through the walls fairly easily - get a corner apt and hope the one next door stays empty.
Electrical is so bad it has literally killed 1 TV, 1 VCR, and 1 surge protector (all separate instances) - that surge protector shot sparks all over when I turned it on one morning.
This morning I had my entire closet collapse, they had installed it with nails. Let me tell you, anybody who knows anything about using a hammer knows you don't use nails to hold anything larger than a picture into the wall. The reason being the weight of the object will eventually pull them out of the wall - like this morning. Screws would have been a much more suitable choice and the simple fact that they used nails makes me wonder how well the rest of the building is put together.

The Goods:
Roof doesn't leak, A/C and heat have never broken down on me - yet.
Wide hallways, stairs and doors make moving easier.
Hospital is a block away - though that's debatable as a "good" with the occasional sirens in the middle of the night.
near I-90 and HWY 14 - easy to travel North, East, or South.
One garage, extra parking in lot. Lately been full due to students moving in.

Bottom line: This place is barely adequate, shop around before you sign that lease. I've been to places far worse, but the only difference between them and Chalet is the behavior of the occupants. SROlYjGrgm2VnM-SactV
