Not that bad (but not great either)

I've lived here almost a year and will not be renewing my lease.
There are good and bad things about Village Green, and I won't necessarily say don't rent here, I'll just tell you my experiences.
Negatives first:
The walls are very thin. I can hear my upstairs neighbor coughing and walking around, and water and dishwasher running next door and upstairs.
Speaking of water, there's a real problem with the water not maintaining the same temperature. I realize that this is a large building but in the year that I've lived here, I've probably been able to take 5 showers in which I didn't get burned or nearly frozen by sudden temp changes. I've never had problems like this (to this extent) in other places.
Parking is nearly always a problem. Every apartment is supposed to get 2 spaces and visitors are to park in the street. I can't tell you how many times I've had to park out there because half the lot is full with visitors' cars. If you complain to management enough they'll put up a letter threatening to tow people but never do so people see it as the empty threat that it is and keep parking in the lots.
Tiny kitchen, but you'll see that for yourself. They are doing a complete remodel and I'm sure will be replacing the plastic drawers in the new ones but if you get an un-remodeled one, the drawers are terrible and flimsy - don't plan on putting anything too heavy (like more than a set of flatware) in them.
Laundry rooms are downstairs and filthy. The machines are disgusting (don't look like they've ever been cleaned) and are overpriced as well.
Storage lockers are not secure. Ours is sectioned off with chicken wire. I certainly wouldn't put anything semi-valuable down there.
They just put out a notice a few weeks ago with some new "regulations" effective 05/01/2008. Smoking is not allowed outside anymore (including the parking lot) - they want everyone to smoke inside (doesn't make much sense to me). I'd imagine that pretty soon the buildings might smell pretty smoky inside. Dogs are no longer allowed. People with satellite dishes are required to take them down now as well (not sure what they're doing about people who have signed into a contract with the satellite companies, probably just saying too bad for you, but that sounds like a potential lawsuit to me...).
The final straw for me was when someone sprayed graffiti in the interior hallways of our building. This happened about a month ago and management was aware of it the following morning. The police came by the day after it happened and did whatever they needed to do, but the graffiti is still there. Looks terrible and makes me mad every time I come home. I'd never noticed/heard of any problems like that before this incident, but the fact that it still hasn't been taken care of is ridiculous (it would take 5, maybe 10 minutes to paint over it).
Ok, the positives:
For the price, it's a very good sized apartment. It's really not bad, except for the problems above. You probably won't find anything else this cheap and large in a decent neighborhood.
They are doing a (much-needed) remodel right now, and the exterior looks much better. I've only seen pictures of the interior, but they look good too.
The office staff has always been helpful and friendly, but I'm not particularly pleased with the management. They may have a new manager now (perhaps the cause of new regulations') but the graffiti is still there and I still often don't have a parking spot available.
Maintenance people have always arrived quickly and have been very helpful and pleasant.
So that's what's happened here with us for the last year or so. Take what you want from it, but it's all accurate.

Wow, a few other people had said that they have a problem with parking, too. We only always have about 5 or 6 cars in our lot at the most! But two of the units in our building are empty right now. It's really nice that they have street parking at least.
