Nothing But Problems

This was my first apartment that I have ever rented so maybe my expectations were somewhat unrealistic. But after only a few months living in this dump we began to have issues. Our first major problem was that our windows did not lock or seal so we were eating major energy costs. We told this issue numerous times to the office staff as well as maintenance staff before there was finally a "resolution". Maintenance would always say "sorry if we dont have a work order to fix something we are not allowed to even look at the problem." Now, to me, any proffesional in any work enviroment should not make excuses to not help the people that are paying their salary. They ended up not fixing the problem and told me that the windows were totally functional and they worked fine. Which is pretty much slum lord code for "sorry we cant find the parts to fix this problem and will absolutely not replace the windows." Second issue was our dishwasher. The rails for the top shelf were broken in half and after calling them numerous times about this issue they finally came up and fixed it by supergluing parts to it. Nice try guys. We gave up on that issue and we ended up fixing the problem ourselves. Biggest problem of all was the fact that throughout the winter months we never had hot water, calling it it "luke warm" would be like saying a burger was a t-bone steak. They tried weekly to fix this problem but to no avail. One would think that they would call a qualified licensed plumber to try to fix this problem, but of course that would be to expensive so they tried using their maintenance people to fix it. This last issue was what finally made us decide to leave. If we were paying $500 a month then I could understand having issues like these, but the fact is, we were paying a little more than a $1000 a month. The maintenance people that we dealt with were always kind to us, they just weren't qualified to fix the things they were trying to fix. That was the office's problem, not the maintenance people. They are paid to fix minor things, and temporarily fix major things until proffesionals can come in to actually take care of it. Underground parking was broken into numerous times and we were told by the office that they were going to fix the broken door going into the garage so the issue wouldnt happen again. Five months later, no fix, problem actually worse than before. We were also warned about not picking up our dog logs. The funniest thing about this was we always picked it up, also my girlfriend bought a pooper scooper and picked up other people's dog messes when it got to be disgusting. We never really got mad about that though because we got a good laugh about their utter stupidity. Warning to all prospective renters, skip this place, if you want problems with where you live, save yourself some money and move somehwere cheaper.
P.S. During one of the worst snowstorms in January of 2009,I saw a maintenance man In the Riverwood plowtruck plowing residences in Pleasant Prairie. I pulled into Riverwood and there was 6 or more inches of snow covering the parking lot. I appreciate the guys drive to make a buck, but come on man, at least take care of the people that are paying your salary first. Way to manage Jackie.
