Woodcreek is a last resort

The office staff is horrible! It is nearly impossible to get things done -- getting an apartment to begin with, any maintenance work, replacements, or apartment upgrading. They're extremely bigoted, and they will put you, their current tenant, LAST for everything if you are already paying them. I kid you not.

For example, a friend of mine who also lives at Woodcreek wanted to upgrade his one-bedroom apartment to a two-bedroom at the end of his lease. They told him in order to even put his name on a waiting list that he needed to pay a nonrefundable $150, and even then he wasn't guaranteed anything because they were going give apartments to people who didn't have a lease with them yet first -- even if their names were added to the waiting list AFTER his. Where is the customer loyalty' To amplify this situation, one of my neighbors works for the complex and he told me they are 15% vacant, which is very high for them.

Maintenance is all right. Sometimes. It can be really slow and the quality of the job can be lacking, but it all depends on who you get. They won't listen to my neighbor (the one who works for the complex) when he says two of my major appliances to be replaced. Instead, they sent a different maintenance man to look at these things, and after saying they didn't need replacing, he started telling me one of my kitchen appliances violated my lease -- which is not only untrue but absurd!

Rent is a tad steep for what they offer, and some of the apartments have older appliances and carpeting (it takes my 70s vintage-style refrigerator three days to make ice cubes and double that to defrost). The paint-job that they do to "refresh" the apartment for the next customer is done poorly. The pool is clean, but very small.

They offer basic cable through them, and it really stinks. It's expensive and doesn't include nearly as many channels as Time Warner (the local cable service). Your only other option is to purchase a dish. Make sure you have a clear view of the southern sky if you get a dish -- I don't.

The laundry machines are expensive and the washer is small, but they are close by and clean. However, I did do the majority of my laundry elsewhere.

The parking lots in front of each building ALWAYS run out of parking spaces. Many times this is due to people from other buildings parking in your lot (theirs ran out) and because people in your building have friends over. Although Woodcreek does ask its tenants to have their guests park on the streets, few people do. If I only had a nickle for every time I had to park on the street...

The parking lot is also very poorly lit, if lit at all! I have heard complaints from many women. The area is nice, but you still never know these days.

The one thing that makes Woodcreek a great apartment is the location. The neighborhood is excellent. It's safe, clean, and close to the University for those students wishing to be nearby. There are lots of children, but it's still quiet and parklike. I guess if you wanted to make yourself feel better about spending your money at Woodcreek -- tell yourself that your paying for the neighborhood.

My experience at Woodcreek has been a tad different. I have never had any problem with maintenance, they repair in a very timely manner. The cable was fine until people started complaining about it, and now we have dish, and yes it sucks royally!!! I think the pool is a nice size, and that is because I go when noone else is there, I like it that way. There was one person in the office that was not people friendly, but she is gone and I like the rest of the staff. Especially Serena. I think we should be able to have pets, and yes, my apartment is a bit small for the rent I pay, but I have been here for almost 6 years and I like it. I am not afraid of the dark. I have not had any problem parking. Shopping is close and the neighborhood is ever expanding. All in all the rent is reasonable and the neighborhood is nice.
