This is an ideal place for a single person who likes a quiet and safe neighborhood. I lived here my senior year in college because I wanted a quiet off-campus apartment. You can walk to the Hilldale mall area, and you are within a 15 minute drive to the mall, UW Madison, and the beltline. It s a really awesome location, and a quiet area. I only moved because I moved in with someone who had pets, and the Carolinas do not allow pets.

The office staff is very friendly and prompt with maintenance calls or concerns. I had some problems with my roommate towards the end of my lease, and they were very understanding. They even have coffee and cookies for you in the morning to grab on your way out the door.

Maintenance always came to fix things within 24 hours, which is especially nice when you are having problems with your dishwasher.

The grounds are just gorgeous! They have a renovated pool and a lovely gazebo. The landscaping is just beautiful. You can tell they really spend a lot of effort and money to make this a nice area.

The apartments have been really well-maintained. They are probably 40 years old, but they are still nice. Nothing fancy, but nothing shabby.

I would recommend the underground parking. Even though the Carolinas do a good job of plowing the driveways, make it easy on yourself and spend the extra $35 on parking. Otherwise, it s kind of a pain to deal with the crowded lot.

I talked to some neighbors who had their cars broken into, but you know, that can happen anywhere. I felt comfortable enough to walk around this area at night. It really is a fairly safe place.

In response to the review where the tenant felt like she/he was in boarding school , I can kind of sympathize. We received a noise complaint once because our cranky neighbor who had to work at 7 am could hear our tv late at night. We don t have surround sound or anything, but I think we must have had a window open or something. However, this really isn t the apartments fault. Just keep in mind that a lot of people who live here are senior citizens or single people that probably don t make a lot of noise. They do recommend that you don t run your dishwasher at night, but come on, who really needs to run a dishwasher at 3am' They also don t like you to shower late at night either, but I never got any complaints from taking a quick shower late at night.

Overall, this is a great spot if you are a single person who wants a quiet, westside apartment. Just watch the volume on your tv.
