I can't make this up!! This apartment has a serious mold problem! We discovered the problem when we closed our windows for the winter. Our windows started to collect an unusual amount of condensation, causing puddles on our window sills. Maintenance assured us that our "showering habits" were the root of the moisture problem, even though we each shower 1x/day for less than 10 minutes each! You decide if you think this is too much to shower!!!!

We started to see mold growing in the corners of the ceiling and around the window frames. We again called maintence and were rudely ignored. Several calls later, they came to "fix" the mold which consisted of using a strong bleach water to clean it off the top surface. Needless to say, the mold grew back after about one week. For the rest of the winter, we were calling maintenance or cleaning the mold ourselves almost every week. After about a month of this, they graciously gave us a dehumidifier to use to "fix" the humidity problem, which caused our electricity bill to go up. (Lets just say that did NOT fix the problem)

One time when they were cleaning the mold, the staff spilled bleach all over my bedspread leaving huge bleach stains (at least 5 spots several inches in diameter). They didnt say anything or leave a note! You would have to be blind to miss those spots. I came home after work and found my bedspread ruined! To give them credit, they did repay the cost of the bedspread after several phone calls.

If that one example isn't enought... the maintenance has been very slow on many other occasions. Even worse, they have left receipts that said a problem was fixed, but the problem still remained. On several occasions, the maintenance staff has also come to fix one problem and ruined something else in the process. For example, they came to give us a new AC unit, and spilled the dirty water from the old one on our carpet! They also put in new granite countertops, but left huge chunks out of the dry wall that we had to call more than 5 times to get repaired. (Some of the spots were still not repaired 6 months later!)

BELIEVE THE SAYING: "You get what you pay for!" This apartment was the cheaptest price for all the amenities it offers. Our rent is cheap and the west side location is good. However, it clearly has cheap construction. Decide for yourself, but I dont think the health risks of living in mold are worth saving a few bucks.

The mold isn't nearly as bad as this person says and I live in one of the older units on Goldenrod. I've had mold but, when I called, it was taken care of within 12 hours. To clarify, this mold was only around the window panes, not on the ceilings or anywhere else. When my dishwasher died, it was fixed in a day. When my fridge dies, it was replaced within 4 days AND they reimbursed me for lost food. Find that deal downtown. I'll save you the trouble - you won't The location is awesome, the people in the office are always friendly, and the landscape is beautiful. Beth Ripp, the apartment manager, is one of the nicest people you could have as a manager. She remembers your name and she's always nice when you go to pick up a package. I've lived here over 2 years and would stay but there's more money sense in buying a house. But if you need an apartment with friendly managers and quick maintenance (despite what this person says) you'll love it here.

You are lucky that you don't have mold as bad as some of us do. I also have mold in the corners of my celing and in the bottom corner of one of the closets--not to mention the disgusting black mold that coats the walls around every window in the apt. But i choose to live with it because it is the best apt i could find for the money and i like living here other than that.
