In the year we've spent at High Point Woods, the incessant noise has nearly driven us crazy. We were informed early on in August that there was to be roof construction performed on all the buildings (and not to worry because it would only take a few days per building). Well, it did take a few days per building...times 18 buildings, closely spaced together, resulting in a ton of noise over an extended period of time starting early in the morning and continuing well past dinner time. Often the crew would start at dawn (about 6.30 am), which I am pretty sure is illegal. Mind you, the new roof was already strained in December and proceeded to leak in one of the bedrooms. When we called in for maintenance, the guy told us he has a lot of leaks to deal with today, and that he would be back later on in the week...never to be seen again.
During the winter months we got no respite. The office staff would constantly badger us about the placement of one or both of out vehicles regardless of where it was actually parked. The supposed rule was that you couldn't be parked in an un-plowed area of the parking lot so that snow removal can proceed without cars in the way...which sounds reasonable until you factor in the fact that the plowmen would never plow enough spaces for all the residents, inevitably leaving some to park in "snowed in spaces" or risk leaving their car in the middle of the road.
Fast forward to the spring and summer months...and lo and behold...more construction announcements. This time they will be changing the colors of windows and balconies (while ruining the plants growing on said balconies) and changing the siding on the buildings. Having construction workers pounding nails above my bedroom window at 6.30 in the morning is not exactly my idea of an alarm clock. Again, this "short" project of 2 or 3 days a building has extended for well over a month now, with no end in sight. The instruments the workers are using make a constant beeping noise (think a truck backing up), which makes me think they are using them wrong.
In all fairness, the apartment complex boasts a convenient location (within walking distance to West Towne Mall, a number of fast food and sit down restaurants, a theatre, cafes and bookstores, etc) and is on a bus route. The office staff is mostly friendly, though not very helpful. They will keep your packages for you but are neglectful when it comes to giving 24hr notices of entry...a 12 hr notice thrown in the vicinity of your door is general practice. Rent is reasonable, but cheaper places can be found. The apartments themselves are not an eye sore...ours has vaulted ceilings and a spacious, well lit living room, and some models come with a fire place.

We also had the same complains with the early morning construction. I work second shift and was up at about quarter to 7 due to the siding projects and reroofing.
