Pros and Cons
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 12/7/2007
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
Pros: Washer/Dryer in the unit. Very nice maintanence staff. Nice area, I never felt unsafe. My building was always pretty quiet, sometimes in the summer weekends you could hear people coming in at bar time. The Princeton Club, Walmart, and Woodmans are all a short walk away-not to mention West Towne Mall. Staff is responsive to requests. Pool is kept up nicely. Big windows in the apartments-Nice and sunny during the summer, and more heat comes into the apts during the winter during the day lessening your heat bill. My apartment was very clean and smelled of fresh paint when I came in. (Carpet had some stains, I wish they would have replaced carpet before I moved in)
Cons: The windows are terrible! If there are gusts of wind any more than 8 mph my windows make a whiney noise, forcing me to go sleep out in the living room. You can also hear people loud and clear in the parking lot due to the poor windows. It's almost like you're right outside with them. It's also freezing cold by the windows and the sliding doors. The heating system is SUPER old, again making the window problem even worse. I was never really warm during the winter. They also have old school heat exchanges which are soo loud. Luckily it's in the living room so you won't lose sleep, however you can't watch TV or have a conversation when it's on. The apartments are pretty small. I pay $760 for 625 Square feet-a little much if you ask me. I pay an extra $50 a month for parking, and during the winter, whoever plows, plows the snow up to the garages. So I always end up having to shovel the snow out to be able to get out of my garage--It doesn't make sense to pay extra when I probably have to do more shoveling than those that shovel snow off of their cars. The hallways smell of smoke, even though they are non-smoking establishment-although I know it's not their fault, I wish they would enforce the rules a little more. I also wish they would have no smoking on the balconies. I would often be out on my balcony in the summer, and would have to go inside AND close up my windows because my neighbors were smoking.
ADVISE: Ask for an apartment that DOES NOT face the beltline. The apartments are literarly feet away from the beltline. Mine does not face it, but all of my neighbors who have units that face it are miserable during the summer due to noise.
