The best you can get . . . without paying HIGH HIGH HIGH

Okay, we have to admit the pricing isn't great, but it IS great for the Madison area. You have to expect to pay a higher price because you live in a larger city! So I think the value to pretty good because you get a lot.

We live on the third floor, and although the wind is loud on REALLY windy days, and the heater is a bit loud sometimes, we are very happy here. The heater is loud, yes, but because we live on the 3rd floor, we barely turn it on. At night we turn it on once and 7 hours later the temperature has dropped only by like 2 degrees!! So we don't mind having the noise if our apartment stays warm for over 7 hours without having the heat on.

The other thing is, is that in Madison there are cheaper apartments (Although not by much) but you don't get what you do get here. You get your own washer and dryer! This was very important to us because having two working professionals, we go through a lot of clothes. We have central air!! Having lived with just a window air conditionar in the living room, I can tell you that central air is GREAT!! We have cathedral ceilings, this makes our 750 sq ft one bedroom apartment seem much more spacious. We can paint the walls!! We were able to bring a little life to our apartment rather than have plain white walls. Huge balconies that are private. I have seen so many apartments where the balconies are right next to each other and have to separation! I don't want to sit out on my balcony and have to be awkward with my neighbor also on their balcony.

Okay, it is not perfect. This winter had a bunch of snow, and although the maintenance guys are great (I really like them because they are very friendly, and funny) it was hard for them to keep up with all the snow and all the maintenance. We had our screen door fall off and it took about a week for them to get to us (which it wasn't an emergency so we didn't really mind). Our neighbors are quiet, however there is some jerk who sometimes rings our buzzer in the middle of the night in his druken stupper. It has happend 3 times in a few months. The management is relatively nice, but a little cold sometimes.

Overall, you have to either deal with what you can pay for, or you can pay a lot more. I looked at apartments that were newer, looked nicer, and were slightly bigger (like maybe an extra 200 feet) but were also $1000 a month or above. Yikes, I think I will take the $750 (there are cheaper options) and be happy that I get so many extras that I do!
