When we first looked at the apartments they looked great, and we couldn?t wait to move in. After being there less than a week I could tell there was a problem with lack of insulation between apartments. We heard every single step the people above us took, every cupboard they opened and closed, every time they used the toilet and closed the lid, you name it, we heard it. The light fixtures in the dining room and kitchen would shake or vibrate just from them walking around. We made numerous complaints, and their only solution was for us to pack up and move all our stuff up 3 flights to a top floor apartment. We have a lot of large furniture and aquariums, so that wasn?t really an option. We were finally able to get someone to take over our lease after 9 months of what I considered to be hell, and I?ve never been as happy as the day I moved out. I would play games on the computer with headphones on, and still hear pounding/banging/slamming coming from upstairs, and they always claimed they were just walking around or whatnot. This is the 5th apartment in Madison I?ve lived in, and never had this kind of problem before, so it?s not that I?m overly sensitive to noise. I wouldn?t be surprised if there is noise insulation whatsoever in the ceilings there. For what we paid in rent, and what we had to put up with, I felt completely ripped off every month writing the rent check. One other thing, just about every light switch in the place was broke by the time we moved out, they were the rocker kind and were made of extremely cheap plastic.
If you are trying to decide on moving here or not, feel free to e-mail me with any questions you might have about it.
