I'm at a studio at 521 W Doty St, also owned by McBride Companies. I'm 100% pleased with this place. I knew I wanted to live downtown because of all of the things to do, but I was slightly terrified that I would never find a place to park and be up all night long due to drunken college students.

Street parking is usually pretty easy, especially during the afternoon and early evening. Coming home later at night, especially on the weekends, can make parking a bit tricky. Even then, the furthest away that I've had to park is 3 blocks. As far as drunken college students go, this building is amazing. I think that the majority of the occupants here are either serious students or working fools (like myself). When I wake up at 6:30, I can hear a lot of showers running, so there are lots of other morning people. Hearing the plumbing isn't obnoxious either, since I can mostly just hear it in the bathroom.

The studio itself is pretty nice. When I moved in (early!), it was spotless. There was a crew of about 5 guys cleaning the building from top to bottom on the 14th. I'm living here with my husband, and while it's cozy, it's not awful. There's enough room for two big chairs, a dining room table, two dressers, and a full-sized bed. The kitchen has enough counter space for a dish drying rack, so it's nice to have a table to chop on. My unit has a newish oven and fridge, as well as new tile in the kitchen and the bathroom.

It seems like the landlords are good about updating things, especially when asked to do so. One of my neighbors had an ANCIENT stove, and within a few days of my hubby telling him to ask for a different one, he got a brand new one. They dropped my husband's set of keys off after they had been made. The copies didn't work, but we didn't bother calling them about it for a few days. When I called, they had a guy over at our door within an hour to pick up the bad key and drop off another one.

Basically, if you're looking to avoid hassles with shady landlords, rent from McBride. They have an amazing, well-earned reputation. :)
