I lived at the Monticello for 3 great years. As a graduate student in Madison I lived in 2 other locations. Of all 3, the Monticello offered the best service, rent deal, and living experience. It's located close to campus, between Sheboygan and N Eau Claire Ave. Buses pass by the apartments often, and will be near campus in 10-15 mins. It's also very close to 2 grocery stores, Hilldale mall, West Town mall, a post office, a movie theater and various restaurants. I never owned a car in Madison, and I found the Monticello's location a great plus. The apartment community was quite mixed, but I often met retirees, graduate students and a few young professionals. Most neighbors were quite considerate, especially of keeping the locations clean and maintaining a low noise level. The management team is superb, and always resolved problems within the apartments quickly. With so many tenants, I was always surprised by Rene' and Niki's ability to remember my name and maintenance requests! I rarely heard my neighbors, and only occasionally did noise levels a problem. My unit was on the third floor, with the balcony looking towards the pool area. Great view! I recommend renting an underground parking for the convenience, however they have plenty of parking available and during winter snowstorms they always plow the uncovered parking areas. I only have positive things to say about The Monticello.
