Slumlords if there ever were

I rented from Mullins for a year above Buffolo Wild Wings and it was horrible. The apartment was a dump when I moved in, it took 48 hours of cleaning (with breaks for only sleep) before I could even get the place clean enough to unpack my stuff. The counter had this goo an inch deep over it, I couldn't use the stove without it smoking and the bathrooms were ungodly.

My apartment was tiny, probally less then 350sq. ft and my electric bill for heat and electricity (I always turned off lights and set the thermos at 60!) and my electric bill STILL ran between 200-300 a month. They put the heat vents near the windows so its always cold. the windows didn't have storm windows and we called everyother week, never replaced. You might as well walk to the corner of Henry and langdon, thats where the maintenence men sit around and chat while there supposedly working. The back door which can be accessed by anyone going in the parking lot didn't lock, they never fixed that so bums would come in and MANY people crossing onto state st. would do the same.

The ad for my apartment said cats okay, so when I had one cat I paid the extra per month, Carol still was treating me like I was getting "special" treatment.

There bookkeeping is horrible, one month I ran out of checks and paid in cash, at the end of the year they said the payment was never recieved and I had to find the receipt AFTER moving to prove it. Furthermore, I was so fed up with them after the school year I sublet in the summer and even though I turned in all the paperwork, they never added my sublettor - even though they gave him the keys! So when the sublettor didn't pay, they came after me, saying I was the one living there, they didn't even attempt to contact the sublettor and held my entire security deposit because of them.

I had made the mistake of signing another lease with Mullins (signed VERY early, around december for a different apartment.) I had been looking at places all day and so when I went to sign the lease with them my boyfriend and I described the place to them and they filled in the paperwork, turns out it was the WRONG place. When I went to move in Aug 15, I went to the apartment building I was supposed to move into looked at the room I thought i was rented and went to Mullins where they gave me the keys for the place I thought I was getting. I got my stuff moved in and someone else came in telling me I was in their apartment. Mullins was not going to let me out of the lease and the apartment I had signed for, a place under half the size, I couldn't even fit my bed in teh bedroom and its only a full, and it took a LOT of argueing on move in day to get them to only offer to drop the price 50 dollars. They let me out of the lease but only because I assume they talked to a lawyer, and only after I had been back 5 times that day argueing, leaving me to find a new place to rent on Aug. 15th.

If you want an anerism, rent from Mullins. They are the biggest slum lords in Madison, run for the hills!
