A good place for new student to live in the first year.

I've been living in 215 N. Frances for about 1 year. Considering the convenience, no one can beat it. It's only five-minute walk to memorial library and also very close to capital food center, US post office and banks. The rent is very reasonable, only $350 including heat, which is very important to me, since the most thing I scare in my whole life is coldness. So I think it is a good choice for a newcomer in his/her first year in Madison, especially international students who have a tight budget and don't have a car.
However, the quality of life there is not so good. There could be some roaches and ants at your home if you don't regularly use bug-killer. The wall and the kitchen equipment are very old, but what can you expect ffrom $350' Anyway, I feel the benefits of the convenience it brought to me outweighs the bad quality of the apartment. You also can enjoy weekends' events in Knoll center and good pizza nearby, which can be a small bonus.
