They did not clean the apartment when I moved in.

The unit has been remodeled and there were paint chips, paper and cigarettes everywhere.

The toilet bowl was awfully dirty.

I went to the main office to complain for 2 times before they sent us a cleaner to clean the apartment.

However, he did not want me to be there when he was cleaning the apartment and kept asking me to go out and buy something for the apartment.

(He should have cleaned the apartment between 14th noon and 15th noon if he wanted to clean a totally vacant apartment!) He refused to clean the stove but asked me to buy something to clean it as "it would only take 2 minutes".

I thought cleaning the apartment means cleaning all appliances in the apartment.

Since it was so dirty, I had to delay moving in and it had caused so much troubles.

It wasn't that I was super picky and not willing to clean the apartment by myself, but the condition of the apartment was just not acceptable.

The attitude of the staff in both the building office and the main office was rude.

They claimed that the cleaner had already been there and he was coming back again to the apartment for me, as if I was unreasonably picky.

(Even the cleaner later agreed that no one had cleaned the apartment yet!)

I reread the lease and found out that they did not promise to give us a clean apartment, unlike some other landlords in Madison.

So be prepared if you have to clean the apartment all by yourself.

Take as many pictures as you could when you move in and bypass the resident manager if you really want something fixed.

Better still, ask if they could add that to the lease (making sure that you can move into a reasonably clean apartment), because I thought that it was unfair if they gave me an awfully dirty apartment and required me to clean the apartment when I move out (or paying like $35 per hour for cleaning).

Go to the tenants rights website to see what rights you have.

If they refuse to clean your apartment, there are some procedures that you can do to reimburse the money you pay for hiring professional cleaners.

Be prepared to confront the unfriendly staff, too.

I got yelled at on the phone, and at the main office.

They were really "a pain to deal with".

If you want to avoid troubles or dealing with the unfriendly management, pay more and get other places.

I did not end up moving in to the apartment because I hated that place so much! Some other things happened and Carol finally agreed to void the lease and return all the money to us.

It has been a EXTREMELY TERRIBLE experience.

Moving is stressful, and you wouldn't want to deal with even more problems by renting from Mullins.

Go find a better place! The money is worth it because you will have less troubles and you won't be rudely treated.

Being a poor student doesn't mean that they can treat us like that.

Read the comments here before you make your decision.

I WOULD NOT recommend Mullins to anyone.
