Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009

I've only been living here for merely 3 months. There are two bedrooms. I was amazed by the cost, $614 ($14 utility fee). This is my first apartment, and I have a roommate.

Problems I've Noticed Thus Far:

BUGS:
The bug problem is huge. I finally called my landlord because it started to get worse because of the cold weather setting in. Come to find out, the bugs I was seeing on a daily basis in the kitchen and bathroom were GERMAN COCKROACHES! They sprayed today and I came home to find 6 cockroaches just running around my Kitchen; more than I'd ever seen before. From past reviews, I don't see them ever going away. I am disgusted.

WINDOWS:
As Winter is starting to near, I'm noticing that the windows are terrible. They are the original windows from the 70's when the place was built. There are cracks, and you can feel the cool air drifting in. I have a feeling by mid-Janruary, the entire surface of each window is going to be covered with ice, it is already starting.

PARKING:
The parking situation is REDICULUS!! There are at least 26 parking spaces on this side of the building, yet everytime I come home in the evenings, there isn't a single one open. A few times I've had to park on the opposite side of building, because even the side parking was full. You can't tell me that parks here lives here, and you can't tell me that EVERYONE that lives here has 2-3 cars. I'm fed up.

WATER:
When my roommate and I first moved in, we noticed that our washcloths were all turning pink; which obviously means somehow, they were being bleached. We couldn't figure out why. They were brand new washcloths, and they weren't even washed yet, there were just sitting on the rack in the tub. You can smell the chlorine in the water. It smells like a swimming pool. I started to get hives within 2 weeks of moving in, I still have them, and they continue to get worse. I finally put two and two together and ruled out it's the water. But it may simply be Madison, WI's water that I'm not used to; however, I highly doubt it.

THE GOOD THINGS:
The rent is cheap.
The new manager is a sweetheart and I believe she actually knows what she's doing (unlike the last manager)
There is pretty good cupboard space.
Skyview has a new manager since the summer of 2009. She is a sweetheart. I hope that overtime she will be able to better the living situation of the SkyView apartments!
