A year of Torture!

From: -Anonymous-

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002

I lived there for one year 2001-2002. When I first moved in I tried opening the bedroom window and it shattered cutting my foot. Management told me it would be 2-4 weeks to get a replacement window! I should have known then. I finally convinced them because of factors like RAIN, couldn't they swap one out from one of the numerous vacant townhouses. That was the only thing they really repaired. They fixed NOTHING from my check in sheet.

My built in microwave took 3 months to have replaced-even though I was calling a few times a week! My upstairs bathroom tile was peeling off and by the time maintenance finally showed up to fix it (again months later) half the floor was gone-which actually looked better than how it looked after he fixed it. There was grout all over the wall, the door and gooped all over the flooring-very nice.

At one point my front door handle was becoming loose and the screws must have been stripped because they wouldn't tighten. They would not replace that for me either (not that I needed a front door that locked or anything'!'!), after the handle completely fell out of the door I went to the hardware store and replaced it myself.

I had little red ants (literally thousands) with a trail through my living room, I was told I had missed the exterminator for that month and I would have to wait until the following month when he came for his scheduled spraying'!'!' Once again, off to the store for ant and bug killer to rid the problem, and I never received evidence that he ever showed up to have it professionally taken care of!

Also,I called the RUDE management company that I was concerned that someone broke the gate to the pool and there were clear footprints on the snow over the half full frozen (probably not all the way frozen though) pool! Three days in a row of calling and they couldn't do the safe thing and fix it! Someone's unsupervised child could fall through the ice and drown!

Not until I called the Fitchburg city inspector was that taken care of.

Other than that it was noisy, kids running around all over the place unsupervised, my 5th grade daughter was beat up by another child (using a broken piece of Ridgewood's fence at one point) after getting off the school bus.

They also never cleared the ice from the cement stairs from the parking lot up to the sidewalks, which made getting up there a nightmare, not to mention if you had groceries or anything! The parking lot was often VERY dark and creepy.

It was a long wait for the year to be up. I had a friend that lived on the other side of Ridgewood and she was eventually let out of her lease because she got so sick of the maintenence problems that the city inspector came out, cited Ridgewood with I think somewhere between 6-8 building code violations and gave them 30 days to fix them (this included a couple of dead birds in their wall-yuck). In that 30 days they repaired 0 of those building code violations! Oh, and she was salting her sidewalk to her building herself since managment didn't feel that was an important task.
