I lived here for over a year (1997-99) and in that time the following items occured:

1. I woke up in the afternoon (I was working third shift), and stepped into the bathroom only to find around 200 yellowjacket bees swarming around the ceiling fan housing. When I called the management, they suggested I buy a can of Raid until a pest control agent could be by, and they didn't know when that might happen. As it turns out, when they did come (three days later!) to spray pesticides into the "attic" area, they did it while I was home, sleeping in my room. They didn't let me know when this was happening, so that I could skip breathing pesticides.

2. One afternoon, one of my roommates arrived home (to our townhouse) only to find a strange man walking around inside - talking on the phone. You see, apparently, he entered the apartment with a key for the apartment TWO DOORS DOWN! Mistakingly thinking he was entering his friend's apartment, he was confused to say the least. Thankfully, instead of robbing us, he took the time alone in our apartment to call his friend to ask if he was in the wrong apartment. My roommate and the stunned stranger then wandered down the row of apartments trying the keys in various doors to see if it was a fluke - and the same key opened one other apartment door out of four others checked. Needless to say, management did arrange to have the locks changed as we rightfully demanded - we forcefully gave them ONE HOUR to change the locks - or we would be taking legal action to lawfully end our lease.

3. One day, while doing some laundry, a fitting came loose from the back of the washing machine. Unbeknownst to us, water was leaking for some time before it was visibly apparent in our living room area (downstairs). I don't recall too much about the process, as my roommates handled negotiations with management on this one, but I do remember it taking a good long while to resolve the issue of damage to the floor and ceiling.

Other than those three items, and having car stereo equipment stolen - junked cars from neighboring tenents cluttering the parking (one car sat in the same spot for 7 months without moving)- apartment management reps with horrible attitudes and the unsafe living conditions, I really don't have anything too horrible to say about Ridgewood. I guess it's not like I was raped while I lived there or anything.
