I have read most of these reviews and I'm not surprised to hear that Ridgewood has become that bad.I think i can safely assume that most of these reviews were written by tenants that live on Highridge Trail. I have known many people who have lived there and I have been in many buildings myself. When i moved in it didn't take me long to be thankfull that i got an apartment on Traceway Dr. I would never live on Highridge Trail. It's as bad as Allied. I remember once thinking that very soon Ridgewood is going to become like Badger Rd. It sounds like it already has.I know Ridgewood has some issues but thankfully i can say i have never had problems like i have read in these reviews. What a shame. I can relate to some of the problems but with my living experience at Ridgewood it would only be fair to say the good points too. When i moved in, the office was on the corner of Fish hatch and Traceway. As of 1999' the office moved into a building by the tennis courts. This place used to be called the Treehouse Bar. It was shut down years ago. I lived in the building next to what is the office now. I can say that it probably helped my living experience for me to live right next to the office.I have to point out that the buildings were built in the late 60's early 70's and that says alot when maintenance problems occur.Yeah, i had mold, only because my attractive 30 year old airconditioner didn't work in the 5 years i lived there. It would freeze up in the 15 min i would have it on. I asked them to fix it and when they came they just rinsed the filter off in the sink and left. I gave up on it and got used to the humidity and was glad my electric bill was very low. Also, the pipes are very old, notice if your tub drips you have some serious rust stains and same goes for the toilet. It was so bad in my bathroom that it ate the porceline in all the fixtures. The water in the toilet after you flush is not urine. I had a terrible time trying to get these stains out of my tub, toilet and sink.Found out that Lysol toilet bowl cleaner regular (without bleach) is Awesome. The same pipes became an issue in my kitchen too. I came home from a 15 hour work day to discover water all over the kitchen and a foul smell like something had died in my apartment. My pipes were so rusted out it broke off and left a huge mess underneath my kitchen sink.I had to get water from my bathtub for 2 weeks before they even left a maintenance notice on my door saying they would be another 3 days before they could fix it. The pipes were an ongoing problem in my bulding. The apartment below me(oops, probably just gave away my identity) every year that i was there had to move out temperarly because the pipes below their livingroom floor had burst. I remember a construction crew being there and hearing jackhammers all day long. After all that work and noise, the same problem happened every year. That apartment also had another problem every winter and spring. The patio door/framing was flush with the ground so every time it rained hard or the snow/ice pond outside there patio would melt it would flood the livingroom too. Never understood why Ridgewood would keep renting out that apartment.I also would like to go to the pool next to the office it used to be quiet before the office moved their location.Everyone used to go to the clubhouse pool. Now that pool that was once peacefull is the public pool. Kids from other neighborhoods would come by the dozens and leave all their bikes by the gate entrance and scream and splash everyone in their sight. That pool was once a good pool to go to when families wanted a quite and safe place to bring their babies and young children. Finally, be prepared to fight for your security deposit when you move out. They told me it would be mailed to me a week after i left.Almost two months had passed and no deposit check.I called the office and they said they sent it and was probably lost in the mail.I said cut me a new one and cancel the old one. They agreed. Got my check a few days later and it was $20.00 short, so i called back to ask why. They said i would be charged for their banks fee for the cancelation of the first check. How messed up is that when two days later you recieve the first check in the mail and it's postmarked near the date that you called the first time. I was somehow scammed out of $20.00 bucks. Other than these main problems it wasn't so bad,i have lived in worse places.Maybe i was fortunate to be in that specific building with the respectable neighbors i had.I have to give Ridgewood some credit.in 1999 and 2000 Ridgewood remodeled every building. They painted the outsides and rebuilt new wooden balconys. They also painted the inside of the hallways and put new carpet down. They look so much better. You should have seen some of the buildings, wood paneling walls w/ grafiti and green and blue striped carpet ripped up so bad that you could easily trip on it and old wooden balconys that looked so unstable you were so afraid to step out on it.I don't recall any litter in the hallways, just newspapers and i remember someone who would vaccum and clean the laundry rooms. Obviously things have got worse since i lived there and if anyone was thinking about moving to Ridgewood make sure you don't live on Highridge trail.
