The apartment we lived in faced the construction site for more apartments that Goldleaf Management is building. The construction workers started between 6am and 6:30am nearly every morning. We had to call the non-emergency police number to get them to start at 7am (which is in the city of madison ordinances that no one may start construction before 7). We complained to the office numerous times, but they did not care. If you don't work a normal day job and get done with work at midnight or later and are also a student, construction workers starting that early in the morning really get to ticking you off.

More than half-way through the lease (March) they decide that they are going to start testing the smoke alarms every 2nd Tues, Weds of the month. That's just so much fun too. Nothing like smoke alarms going off from 9am-1pm with little to no stop.

Most of the office people are just rude as well. The management has really declined in the last couple of years. I used to live in an apartment at Casa Blanca, also managed by Goldleaf, and when I lived there the management was not nearly as rude.

The maintenance is quite responsive though. I have few complaints about them, but the building "manager" that is always around University Heights is kind of creepy.

Overall, I would not recommend living here if you like peace and quiet. You can hear all of the traffic going by, ambulances going to UW Hospital, and all of the drunks coming back on Thurs-Sat nights. Oh yeah, and nothing like the football players smoking weed so much that you can smell it any time you walk past thier first floor apartment. Parking is also an issue because half of the time there are people without permits on their cars parked in the lots and they rarely ticket.
