You might think on first glance that Sunrise Heights is nice apartment complex. The rent is cheap, apartments aren't total dumps, and location is awesome. But the compliments end there.

I never had a problem with the rental staff, though I did need to contact the maintenance person frequently. Our heat went out in the middle of winter twice. It was fixed promptly, but the thermostat never worked, and it was constantly hot and dry in the apartment. I'd sleep with my window open in the winter because it was so hot!

The tenants mostly keep to themselves, but that's the best that can be said of them. Needless to say, the majority of renters are pretty shady. The night before I moved out there was a stabbing down the hall. Renters seem to be a mix of college kids, low-income single parent families, and, according to one neighbor, "drug dealers from Chicago."

Memos from the management appeared on my door almost weekly, dealing with everything from vandalism on the property to kids running around and making too much noise.

I would not recommend this apartment to anyone. It seemed to go downhill considerably in the time that I was there.

Sure, the rent is cheap and the location is cool (right by the lake), but that can't make up for the questionable tenants and the building maintenance issues.
