My husband and I were more than excited to move out of Briarwick after only 1 year of living there.

We responded to the office right away when they gave us a letter asking if we were returning next year. They asked us many times (i.e., sending us a letter and calling my husband 3 times and me 2 times, NO JOKE) the exact date we were going to be out. We told them that we could make sure to have all of our belongings completely out of our apartment and storage unit 2 weeks before our lease was actually up, IF they would pro-rate our rent for the month. But of course, they won't do such a thing. In George's words, "your lease goes until the 31st, and I can't do anything about that". So, of course, we said we would be in the apartment until the very day our lease expired. And who wouldn't, for as much as we got ripped off there'''' We even made sure that our electricity was still in our name until the end of the month, so that Mr. Penny Pincher wouldn't try and take money out of our security deposit for that.

But here is the shady dealings!! My husband stopped into the apartment every couple of days to make sure that things were OK, no windows were broken, etc., as we were not really living in the apartment anymore, but still had a few odds and ends remaining in the apartment. One day, my husband entered to find painting and cleaning supplies strewn about the apartment. Before we had our walk-through with management, THE CLEANING CREW AND PAINTERS WERE IN OUR APARTMENT!!!! BEFORE our lease was up!! This is NOT considered "usual and customary maintenance", such as fixing heat ducts, checking smoke detectors, etc. They were preparing our apartment for new tenants!! This is thier "business", trying to roll people into the apartment on EXACTLY the 1st of the month. Let's go over this again...

1) Entry into OUR apartment (yes, it's ours, we still paid the rent and are leasing it until the end of the month) WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION!!! We DID check the box on our paperwork, by the way, that said maintenance needed our consent to enter our apartment, which they NEVER GOT FROM US!!

2) Use of OUR electricity!! George told us, like the jerk that he is, that "if we were so concerned, he would reimburse us the $4". How about you just keep yourself out of our apartment'

3) We still had belongings in the apartment!! WE STILL WERE OCCUPYING THE UNIT!!!

4) How could he possibly try to stiff us of any of our security deposit'' He had NO PROOF of ANY damages or lack of cleaning, as he felt the need to send his painting and cleaning crew in BEFORE WE DID OUR WALK-THROUGH!! They even threw out some food we had in the refrigerator that my husband was eating on his lunch breaks at work (the time he would stop in to check things over)

Needless to say, after several heated conversations with George, we got our FULL security deposit back, without ANY fees removed. We didn't get any of our rent back, but felt it really wasn't worth fighting over because George KNEW HE WAS WRONG!!! My advice to all ... STAY AWAY!! The problems don't end just because you are leaving!!!

I had all the same complaints when I lived there. I have an amputed leg and a small child and I could not go to the grocery store because I couldnt walk with him through the snow. It is not worth the price at all! I had to threaten to take them to court because I fell three times on the ice they wouldnt clean up. After taking pictures or the ice and snow they took care of up but that didnt last long once it snowed again it was the same thing. I got tired of calling and getting the same answer "oh they are trying they have been out all day working on it". Maybe if the owners werent so greedy they could hire more then three people to shovel the snow!!!!!! I also could hear everything upstairs. The girls who lived above me would lock their dog in the stairwell and he would whine and back all day and night also when they would come home it would sound like a elephant going up the stairs and when they would have their "boyfriends" over they would wake my son up with their screams! It was horrible. They would also throw their cigarette butts off the balcony. Also the pool was always packed with kids that were rude. The two times I went in the pool with my son and handicapped brother kids were jumping in constantly and splashing everyone and of course their parents were no where to be found. My son could never walk through the grass because people wouldnt pick up after their pets. Honestly people you are paying for a pool that is always packed, a fitness room, a pool table and a suna you more then likely wont even use. It was one of the worst places I have ever lived.
