I have lived in a townhouse at Harbor Pointe for the past 9 months. I will be moving out a month early. I cannot wait to get away from this place.

The grounds are overrun by geese and all the lights are out on the walking path by us. The overall unit is fine. The cabinets are a bit old and there is not much room in the kitchen. The other rooms are large and there is plenty of closet space. These are the only positive things I can say.

The rent is too high and the utilities are expensive. We kept our unit at 60 65 throughout the winter. Our heating bills still reached 250.00. Then we got a letter from Harbor Pointe that said during the cold we need to keep our units at 72, no lower. Well if they would pay to heat the unit, I d be happy to keep it at whatever temperature they wish. (The way these units are designed the pipes are not on any outside walls so the risk of freezing was minimal besides for the units that were unoccupied, did they pay to heat them it is likely not)

Be careful of your neighbors. We do not smoke, but they do. The vents that run in the walls between the units carry the smoke into our place. They recently moved in and as soon as they did is when the issue started.

There is increasing crime in the area. My husband's car has been broken into - right out side our bedroom - and we have friends in the apartments and they have all gotten notices that there have been numerous car break-ins in the underground garages. When the officer came to take our police report he informed us of the increasing crime and that we should think about a new area when our lease was up.

There is a gas station right out front where a robbery took place, that incident continued into the Harbor Pointe complex where a female was robbed in the doorway of her building. The management failed to immediately notify the residents, it took 2-3 weeks to get a poorly written letter out to the residents. The letter was not even on official letterhead.

We have also referred people to move in (at that point we didn t realize how bad of a place this was). One was at the same time we moved in and the other was only a few months later. They offer a renter's credit program yeah that's a joke. The first time, we called for weeks trying to find out the status. We kept hearing, oh it s being processed it s coming. Well they messed up and sent it to the wrong person .so when they checked on the status something should have popped up cluing them into this mistake. 4 months after the second person moved we were still trying to get our money. Since the end of February I have called every 2 weeks and each time I get the oh you will see it in no later than 2 weeks call us back if you don't and when I call back I get the "I told you the checks would be cut in 2 weeks then sent out." Finally I had to call the Management office in Chicago, the day I called is the day my check was postmarked.

If you call the office for anything, they blame the mistake on a bad coworker that there have been issues in the office. I have been lied to plenty of times by the staff and have caught them in their lies, that's the only time when things actually get done.

At first maintenance was timely, not lately. I have had to call 4- 5 times (including filling out an online request) to get someone over to fix plumbing issues.
