I will be moving when my lease is up...

My husband and I moved to Picadilly in 2004 before we had our son. It seemed like a real great deal. Typical apartments, decent staff, nice amenities. The first two years were really nice. However, although the management company is the same, the on-site staff has changed, and while they are nice to your face, they are completely help-less.

***review edited*** New maintenance in the last few months - very nice, clean & helpful ***
We also have HORRIBLY noisy neighbors upstairs. It constantly sounds like a herd of elephants doing aerobics. I understand they have kids, but so do we. We teach our child to be respectful of the neighbors... that's a lesson for all apartment dwellers!
Even though we are smokers, we do not leave our butts in the lawn. However, the lawn outside our patio looks like an ashtray at a bar. I'm not sure if it's the upstairs neighbors, or the one's on the 3rd floor, but it's disgusting!
The parking situation is rediculous. While we don't typically have trouble getting decent parking near our building... they preach about a parking policy and what is and isn't allowed, but then you see others with large semi-tractor trucks parking in the lot, and cars that sit in the same spot for days on end, and you wonder why YOU'RE charged extra for a 2nd parking space, but these others can do whatever they please.
Basically, this is all the typical crap you have to deal with in a large complex. Do I still plan on moving' Probably. Just generally sick of apartment living.

Hi- I'm very sorry to hear how unhappy you are. I would like to address a couple of things: 1. As far as the boiler problem we had a couple months back by no means it was not a cost issue. The maintenance staff responded (maintenance tech and supervisor). The problem was an impeller(Fan) and since it was on a weekend we could not get the part until Monday. 2. As far as the maintenance staff leaving a mess after they are done working is a big surprise to me. I was never informed of this and If I was, it would of never ever happen again and the maintenance man would have been in your apartment right away cleaning up his mess. We do have fairly new maintenance men now so please let me know if it was them. 3. As far as the cigarette butts and noisy neighbors I will be sending out a letter to your neighbors regarding cigarette butts and noise so please let me know if it does not stop. 4. I will have the caretaker concentrate more on the back of your building as far as parking. She will be ticketing vehicles with no tags and/or calling the police. Again I'm very sorry about the inconvience we have caused you in the past but I promise you the noise, cigarette butts and parking will be cured. Please call or email me at anytime if you have any further questions or concerns. Anne Negovan Piccadilly Apartments Property Manager |

Anne - Just wanted to comment: I appreciate all you've done. Things seem to be getting somewhat better around the complex in the past 3 months or so. 1. I've revised my post to eliminate the comment about the boiler. I apologize - I needed to vent about that one! I'm still dissappointed that all we got on that one was "There's nothing we can do". That's easy to say when you didn't have to listen to it, regardless of the reason for delay in fixing it. 2. The new maintenance guy is VERY nice/polite, helpful and clean! Hurray! 3. The cigarette butts are still an issue. The family upstairs has been much better lately. (except for the kid dropping things off their balcony) 4. About the parking - I realize there is only so much that you folks can do. However, wouldn't it be great if the other residents gave a crap? For example - if you're not using your vehicle... park it at the "back" of the lot. Why use up a "good" space, when your car is just sitting there for a couple days? Or, if you're going to park in the fire lane with your headlights facing the building, how about turning off your headlights? And this one seems like common sense, but how about parking IN between the lines? Anyway, in summary, YES, quite a few of the issues around the complex are being addressed. I guess they just had a "bad seed" in the management position for a while or something. In response to the other posters who think that the unhappy residents are the ones causing the problems, I think it's great that you love living here -- the complex has a lot of plusses, and you're entitled to your opinion. But let me turn around your comments back at you: Perhaps you're so happy living here because you're one of the people breaking the rules to suit yourself? Seriously, if I was breaking the rules and getting away with it, why would I have reason to gripe? |

I'd like to comment in regards to what is being said. #1 I DO NOT KNOW the management on a PERSONAL LEVEL. Also, I'd like to know what rules I am breaking?? Maybe if you didn't complain and weren't so nosey you're lease would of been renewed!! I have nothing to complain about cuz I DO NOT SWEAT the stuff. I'm sorry that I have other things to worry about than what you 2 are crying about. I've lived here long enough that if there were things wrong I'd say something. The difference between us is that I know that I live in a COMPLEX and that this isn't my own house!!! Why don't you try to make the rest of your time here at Piccadilly the best??

As far as parking, again former caretakers boyfrind was parked in resident spot 5/11 & 5/14 and Mercedes was parked here 5/12. As I pay extra for a second parking spot, I damn well have the right to complain.
As for former bad seed management, another building resident again asked for her outdoor water spigot to be turned on and was told, "I have more important things to worry about". Kind and helpful?
5/13 - kids riding around a silver Hyundai on scooter and a ball bounced off the hood of a red Grand Am.
5/14 - caretaker's son took large, heavy bucket of trash to dumpster. Garbage dumpster was too high so he hoisted the container to the cardboard recycling dumpster and proceeded to tip it in. However, due to the wind, the trash blew everywhere because the caretaker didn't bother to at least bag it! The kids stood there and laughed at the mulch bag, packing peanuts, a syrofoam meat tray and other trash that blew about (this usually ends up on my patio!) Another neighbor confronted the mother (former caretaker)but did she bother to come out and pick it up, NO!
5/15 - A different family's child took out a heavy bag of garbage but also put it in the cardboard recycling dumpster. Small issue but not a very good example to be setting for your children. As long as you can get away with doing something, it's ok to do it half-assed. Good set of values! And where is your respect for others when trash is floating around? Screw the environment and the neighborhood because we don't want to take the trash out - who's really being lazy? You need to supervise your children and teach them right from wrong. People are shocked by violence today - maybe we should be more vigilant about teaching our children the right and respectful way to behave in society.
5/15 and 16 - shoes littering the hallways.
Notices are posted/handed out about trash, items littering hallways, etc. Look at the May newsletter, The Piccadilly Press. Heading - "Put garbage in its Place" - help us keep the trash areas safe and clean! Heading - "Visitor Parking" - parking places in front of apartments are for residents only. Heading - "Keep the Laundry Room Clean" - reminder to pick up the laundry room after you have used it. Heading - "Working Together for Childred" - Parents, please remind your children to play in designated play areas and not in or near roadways.
Parents, did you know that there previously was a registered sex offender living here? Not anymore, but maybe that will prod you to keep an eye on your children.
You may not personally know the management, but being friends of friends of management doesn't hurt! It really does appear that the people breaking the rules and getting away with it are the happy ones. If I've offended anyone, my only intention is to provide truthful information to former prospective tenants. Besides, if the shoe fits, wear it!

Do you ever think that you to get a life?? Do you honestly have nothing better to do than watch what happens in Piccadilly??? As far as the garbage, get your story straight all of it was put away and I did go check.I WAS NEVER CONFRONTED EITHER!! Worry about your own children instead of others. If you have a problem with me of my son, come and deal with me instead of crying on this website. I'm sorry, but I didn't know that I was suppose to report to you. Last time I check you were just a complaining resident, not management. By the way, whomever you are referring to as my boyfriend, you've got that wrong. I have no idea who you are referring to. Anyone that comes to my apartment parks in the designated spots. You need some serious help, I honestly feel bad for you, that you have nothing else to do but complain about Piccadilly. It's funny how you never complained this much until your lease was non-renewed!!! WE WILL ALL BE GLAD WHEN UR GONE!!!

I am a former tenant of Piccadilly and I am familiar with the problems listed here. We moved because we wanted ammenities that Piccadilly did not offer. Otherwise we would have stayed. I found Annie to be about the best apartment manager I've ever had and I've been in a lot of apartments over the years. Tony is an excellent maintenance person and a whole lot better than the one before him. I know that when you complain to the office you expect the problem will magically go away. Well, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Running a complex with a couple hundred units in it is a daunting task and, as much as they'd like to, the management can't babysit one unit's problem 24/7. Most of the problems between tenants comes down to a lack of respect on the part of one tenant for the rights of all the other tenants and, by law, there is limited action the office can take in response. A lot of the time the only legal course of action is to wait until the lease expires and then refuse to renew it. The only other alternative is to go through very lengthy and expensive court action. If a serious disturbance occurs you can and should call Greenfield PD. I had to do that and they responded every time they were called. The office follows up on police calls and it helps the office to get rid of unwanted tenants. The ultimate answer to problems at Piccadilly, or any other apartment, is for the tenants to be friendly with each other and to respect the rights of all the other tenants. That is something we can do for each other and for ourselves.
