We move around a lot due to husband's career and I have got to say that this was my favorite apartment we've lived in so far.
We had an upper apartment in the new section (the new/new section with the beige woodwork). I'm a stay at home mom with my husband gone 12-14 hours a day and sometimes gone a couple days for meetings and I always felt safe here! The property in whole is kept up beautifully and the pool was so nice to have durning the summer. Yes, the washer and dyer in these apartments are small (they are a stacked unit) but it still beats going to a laundry mat.
I actually really liked the baseboard units in each room as we then got to pick which rooms we wanted to heat. In the winter we stayed warm with only have my daughter's room (the one with the bay window) baseboard heater on. It warmed up the whole apartment. However in summer is was so uncomfortably hot in our apartment we had to run the air conditioner all the time and it still would not cool the bedrooms down. And if you had to use your dyer or the oven in the summer it was just horriably hot!
Our neighbors for the most part were very nice and kept to themselves. When we first moved there the upstairs neighbor next to us was very loud, we could hear his music inside our apartment and even when we were outside we could hear it, it was so loud. His kids were so loud running up and down the stairs, and whenever someone would come home they would slam the door so hard it shook our apartment. He would cuss and yell at his kids and we could hear it in our apartment. One the day the police came looking for him and then after that he never came back LOL Then right before we left in the apartment building next to us were two college age girls and almost every weekend they would have parties or would be getting back home from the bars/parties early morning hours 2-3am and bring friends. The visitor parking lot was right outside our bedroom window so all their friends would park there and they were so loud and would stay outside and talk forever. They were constantly waking up our daughter. I asked them once to please be quiet and I woke up the next morning to find beer bottles in our yard! Other then those two neighbors everyone else was very nice.
Management return calls quickly, fixed anything that needed to be fixed quickly etc. Only complaint I have with them is that when we went to move our new apartment place called up for a reference and they had said we had a couple complaints about our dog barking and yet we were never told about these complaints as we would have tried to fix the situation.
Another downfall for us was once your lease is up you have to sign a new year lease, to go month to month after your lease is up is almost double the rent. Any other place we rented once the initial lease was up it automatically went month to month so we were not use to this.
Move-out process was very easy and we actually liked the idea that we got the choice to pay for a cleaning company to come in and do all the move out clean stuff. It made it a lot easier for us and we wish that more apartments offered this.
The apartments across the street are very ghetto as other described and there were always police over there. Behind the Rivershire there is a great walking/bike path that we used a lot and always felt safe!
All in all, this is my favorite apartment we have lived in so far but if we had to do it again we would take more time to find a different apartment. Rivershire is priced pretty high and you can find a lot of apartments in the Milwaukee area for cheaper that offer the same things.
