Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006

I have been removed from these places for 2 years now and the horrible memories still linger to this day. The first issue was the dead shrubbery outside my apartment that I had to look at any time I was at my window or patio door. I had asked if something could be done about it and was told they'd look into it and never did. When I moved in there were black stains on the carpet that I went and bought rugs to cover because they obviously must have thought a new tenant wouldn't have cared. I was awoken many times over my year there to parties at 2am at my complex with people yelling, shouting, laughing all crude and crass with foul and "ghetto"-type language. The people that lived above me in a 2 bedroom had about 4 kids and the "adults"...which I believe is illegal to have 6 people in a 2 bedroom apt. Everynight it sounded like their floor (my ceiling) was both a bowling alley and a trampoline combined. The walls are so thin I could not only hear the music and fighting most complain about, but also beds or furniture smacking the wall or thumping my ceiling along with the applicable "love" noises associated with such. Just like at a seedy motel! I had ant problems not once, not twice, but three times. First they were carpenter ants, then the second times they were the kind that can fly. I woke up one morning to find water pouring into my apartment through door to the furnace closet because the roof was leaking when it rained. The bottom of my bathroom sink began to get wood rot. Parking' Please get me started! The signs in the lot clearly state it is private and a car not belonging there can get ticketed or towed. Well, you can't get a car towed without the manager's say, and with most issues being at night that was hard to do. So many times I ended up parking on the street because someone was in my spot. I did, however, have A LOT of cars ticketed. In fact, so many times that the parking enforcer began to know me and ended up thinking I was on a mission to the extent he wouldn't ticket cars for me anymore and just gave warnings near the end of my time there. When the lots were full, people would park on the sidewalk! When that happened it made it extremely difficult to back the car out of a space because the cars were literally blocking you in my doing that (at least in the lot of the unit in which I lived). My car was never broken into, but the times I was forced to park on the street there was problems. Someone rear-ended my car and created damage on the bumper. No note, of course. Then another time my front windshield was smashed like someone tossed a medicine ball at it. I almost got hit by a car walking across an intersection in a crosswalk at the end of my street because some "ghetto" kids decided it would be funny to speed up when they saw me and fly through the stop sign. I was so close to getting hit that when I got out of the way my shirt and hair rippled from the wind gust the car caused going by me. My mother and then girlfriend always got nasty looks from people that made them uncomfortable. There were shopping carts, garbage and punk kids abound. I could not wait to get out of there!
Yes, Amanda in the office is the best and most attractive feature there. Very fine and VERY HOT! And she is very nice, too. So don't move here I beg of you, but at least check it out and visit Amanda and pretend to be interested...but then run away and do it very fast!

I hear you. I hate this place and I cannot wait to leave. This place is getting very ghetto and it seems they like it that way, because when you complain about noisy neighbors they do nothing. Actually they do nothing in that office... on-site management, yeah, should be "on-sit", no wonder why everytime I see them I worry about their colesterol level.

_________ There is a History of Cars being Broken in- to at Southgate , Yet they offer no kind of security' To make their residents feel safe . I ask You ' How would You feel if Your car was stolen right outside your Door to where your apartment was ' I could even see my Car from the Patio Door . Sure It's not Management's fault RIGHT yet they knew about the history ' Tell You what ' That's the Same as having a Rapist living in the community ' As victim's continue to get Raped ' They refuse to inform so they can Continue to rent their units . So then I Ask who's really at fault ?

Sadly, having an attractive, sweet staff member does not a pleasant rental experience make. The high incidence of vehicle damage, the obvious lack of proficient maintenance staff, refusal to police problematic parking enforcement for responsible tenants - all point to ridiculous owner/management financial restrictions. In other words, Southgate lacks staffing, supplies, equipment, and adequately updated electrical, plumbing and heating. I would prefer that a bulldog answer the apartment's offices if it meant my requests for maintenance or adequate parking lot / stairway lighting or water damage, was resolved in a timely fashion without excuses. I hope Southgate management knows how very lucky they are to have the two Erics working (miracles) for them. (Unfortunately, they have not yet been cloned.)
