Beautiful apartments-- doesn't make up for it.

This apartment building a renovated seed factory with industrial-chic design. 15 foot ceilings-- visually, the apartments are stunning. Structurally... the walls are not insulated very well AT ALL. Smoke pours through the walls from one apartment to another as does sound. The first 7 floors are part of a government tax credit program-- therefore there are plenty of immature college students who party constantly and have no consideration for other residents.

I lived in a studio apartment sandwhiched between a bedroom and a kitch of two other apartments. The kitchen cabinets BANG against the wall and my bed. On the other side, I can hear every single word out of my neighbor's mouth-- including her constant profanity. All I can say is THANK GOD she hasn't had any "male visitors". The tall bare ceilings just intensify the echo and sound. And THANK GOD I am not living next to the apartments with elaborate sound systems I can hear all the way down the hall (and feel in the walls.)

The windows are EXTREMELY drafty-- for ONE person-- I pay up to $75 for electric a month in the winter. (Their website advertises gas heat, but that is a lie.)

PARKING IS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!!! The city renovates these old factories to bring back "quality living" to the downtown area, but doesn't change the parking regulations to accomodate the hundreds of new residents. In the winter, our block is closed in on all sides within a five block radius with "No Winter Night Parking" Streets. Forget it! You WILL get numerous tickets all winter long because there will simply be no place to park your car-- even with a night parking sticker. If you keep anything valuable in your car, it WILL get broken into. This propery faces the Menomonee River Valley and cops never patrol it until after a streak of break-in's occurs (which makes them useless.)

There is a security company in the building, but don't think that makes you any safer. They are an independant company-- I don't think they really care about the residents of the building as much as they might about the other companies who contrac them out. They take forever to respond to a complaint, if they respond at all. I had neighbors screaming to kill each other and no one came down to check it out.

In my opinion, the spacious, new and modern style of the units does not make up for the noise level, drafts (and concequent high electric bills), parking nightmare, and car break-in's. The incidental expenses from break-in's, parking tickets, drafty windows makes this place SO not worth it. The staff mean well and are friendly, but that doesn't make up for it either.

The electric bills are unbeleivable. How do I pay over $150/mon for a 800 sq ft apartment? How? Something has got to be wrong with this.

These first two reviews are so well written that I'd love to hear what the authors think of their experience now. Jazzgirlie, are you still here somewhere?
