Seems Run Down

Seeing lots of places since I just found out I am going to be moving May 1. This place confused me and so I wanted to say something about it.

Showed up for a tour on a Saturday. Booze bottles and 100 cigarette butts just inside the front doors. One elevator was broken. The other one smelled like garbage. Saw an apt on 7th floor that was OK but everything seems so cheaply made and you could hear anything happening anywhere. I hear children, music and even, yes, a dog (dogs are not allowed) in the middle of what could have been my bedroom. Cheap lighting, cheap paint, cheap cabinets, cheap countertops. Loved higher ceilings and big windows but was not insulated well. All the equipment in the exercise room was broken with big "Out of Order" signs hanging everywhere.

In my home I should not have to worry about break-ins or getting jumped as a single girl, but there is no security of any kind here, inside or outside. Broken glass everywhere from car windows tells me there's a lot of crime here and I am sure the out of the way location does not get many police patrols.

Insides of the apts are OK but the rest of the building just feels too ghetto. I just can't beleive people pay that much for an apartment in this area. The tour guide was nice but didn't seem ready to answer any of my questions honestly. I got the impression he hadn't worked here very long, or wasn't planning to work here long.

New management wasn't given much to work with. I feel a great deal of "bad blood" was dumped upon them and it's taking them months to stabilize the property. However, I do know what you mean about the dogs, the litter, and the constantly broken elevators. I've convinced myself things will improve; yet, month after month, I see no improvement, and often I feel we are getting worse here.

The word ghetto is right on! And the management group seems completely content with everything being so ghetto.

Dude, last night was superb. Coming home at midnight to find a beer drinking party in the lobby. Doors were set wide open, total free for all. Now that's what I call peace of mind, knowing anyone can wander in off the street.

I am so embarassed! When I tell people where I live, they ALWAYS say, "Isn't that place kind of ghetto?" And I have to say, yes. Yes it is.

It is funny, people have either never heard of this building or they have heard very bad things about it. Why is that.
