Teweles Seed: One Unusual Experience

I have tried very hard to understand the challenges of running this building, but in the past year of living here, my patience is nearly gone. This could be such a glorious place to live, but as a single woman, I can only take so much before I'm creeped out and grossed out and ready to MOVE out!
Teweles Seed proposes to offer "a growing and newly revitalizing community." The only problem is that all the revitalization stopped the minute this building opened. Since I first visited this property two summers ago, little has changed or improved about the area or the building. In fact, the only change in the year I've been here is that the lobby was painted more inviting colors. That's it.
Most of the problems here are related to a lack of onsite management. True, there is a management office here, but outside office hours, there is only a vague sense that someone is running this place. There was vomit on a stairwell for a week - no one noticed. The garages are filled with trash and debris, and yet our parking cost was recently doubled. It's weird.
Hoodlums learn quickly that there is no consequence for breaking rules because there is no one here to see them do it. There is no respect for the building, the neighbors, nothing! Adults cannot be trusted to act accordingly - - I have seen things here that are shockingly out of control. I suspect most of it is in defiance and frustration with past management.
This company receives federal tax credits for managing a mixed-income property. If this program was removed from our building, it would take most of these problems with it. Terrible for the families who actually need the program to survive, when bad reputations are made for them. I have spoken to several residents who feel the same, and one is planning to write a petition to the management company.

I am a new resident here and totally agree. We were in a hurry to find a place in town because of a job offer. I regret our snap decision. It's absolutely filthy dirty and we could use 14 cleaning people one for every floor. There is never any management here. I have seen lines waiting. It's also so expensive here and we can't save money for a condo. I feel the next year will be spent throwing money away and hating it.

This place is run like the college dorms but with one difference, at least there are security guards in the dorms who keep things from being broken, stolen or trashed. There is at least some control in place. Here you will just see the ruins of what would have been a posh place to live. Seven months to go and I'm out.

I opened my door to find bags of garbage and broken Mad Dog bottles this weekend. The building is a sauna so you can imagine how they smelled. They are still there five days later.
