Teweles Seed Tower Apartments
AVERAGE RATING

What a Joke this place is- My boyfriend and I (whom are working professionals) lived in Teweles Seed over a year. Through-out the entire time we lived there it was one thing after another. Fire Alarms in the middle of the night (morning actually) from people burning food, burning couches in the alley, water mains breaking- But when you discussed this with management they said this is normal for an apt. building. Ok..'! Then the Elevator- well don't live above the 7th floor because it seems the one that goes about that to say the 8th,9th,10th,11th,12th etc... is often without lights and or broken down. Oh but they have excuses for that as well- "someone is probably holding the elevator open- then it appears to be broken..." Every time the elevator wouldn't come to you or light up it was because someone must be moving in - holding the elevator... Funny some moves must have taken a really long time since at times it would go down on Friday and not be up till Monday evening.... Bull! (so remember all those flights of stairs when your picking a place with a nice view- Between all of the Fire Alarms(call the city they may tell you) to the elevator not working- you'll be using those stairs a lot. Ok to move on to the disease infested parking garage that comes with a complimentary spot when you rent (')9th floor and above. It's filthy, never been power washed since we moved in. You can feel the grit under your work shoes in the morning on the way to your car and you can drag it into your house when you return home. And the car break ins... With all that over priced rent being paid you think they could finally afford a security camera on both sides of the building, but no only on one side- so if you re not lucky enough to get the side with the camera and don't have an alarm on your car, plan on it getting broken into. Ps Garage the parking garage door doesn't always work either. Nor does the equipment in the workout room. My car got broken into the first night we stayed there. There was not a single thing to steal in there either... Management is worthless for anything other than collecting your rent. Won't hold packages for you or return your phone calls - Just call the emergency line because otherwise you will never talk on the phone to anything other than an answering machine. Unless of coarse you want to see the place - to possibly rent it... It has almost been a month and I still have not heard anything back about my Security deposit either... So Tewles Seed Towers has absolutely beautiful apartments hands down- the view is spectacular (when you can see out the windows they never wash), the appliances are very nice as well. It's just once you have to walk out side of that apartment that everything turns Bad- Bad and Ridiculous enough that I would never recommend anyone rent there. EVER.

To an outside reader this may sound like a disgruntled ex-renter, but let me tell you all, EVERY WORD IS TRUE. Living at Tewels last summer was like living in a war zone. It was like a bomb would go off everyday when you least expected it and nobody cared. There were never any apologies from management just excuses and finger pointing and blame transfer. Do NOT believe what management tells you - this insanity is NOT normal for a supposedly market-rate apartment building. It is however normal for a HOUSING PROJECT with absentee landlords who are only worried about getting your money and doing as littel cleaning and mainteance as possible and working as little as possible. The Tewels office is closed more often than it is open and even when supposedly open there is nobody working in it. There is supposedly someone cleaning but I have never seen it happening. The common areas are so dirty and filled with trash, ALL THE TIME, it is inexcusable! For what you are paying here, a decent night's sleep should be the minimum you get. You will rarely get that on weekends because it's a total college dorm environment. Management is nowhere to be found after 5pm, there is no security, there is no one to supervise the idiots they have rented to or make sure that decent hard-working respectful residents can come home and relax and sleep.
Unless you are living in the private top floors at Tewels you are living in a rundown housing project, I hate to say it, but it's true. And who can afford a $2000 apartment and who would pay that much in this kind of creepy neighborhood anyways? For that price I sure hope they have something extra because it's more than a condo payment.
Beware "Commonbond Communities" - they made a reputation for themselves here at Tewels and are now opening up other property in the city - but I doubt any of their financers or Board members would feel too good about living in this building for even one weekend!

Making comments is nice, when you speak the truth; and can back up what you say and why! The elevators for example went down twice after hours, in the 4years I lived here. And it is the elevator company, that comes to fix whatever the problem is! So who owns or runs the building, has no say so fixing the problem;and when.
Trash. You it make sound like papers, garbage, etc. are all over the place, like this building was a ghost town! And what building in this world offers a private security officer for every tenant? Yes, this is what it would take to make sure every tenant, acts right. You can't find this kind of service in a PRISON, so where do you even come up with such a comment! And obviously if Teweles was a dorm room with all the noise, would not the Police be out here all the time? Even the noise makers need to sleep.
Last of all what does the building have to do with the neighborhood? Come by the area once, and you can see what goes on( which applies to every neighborhood ). So if you don't like what you see, don't move in!
Oh and about fire alarms. Yes on occasion they went off! However not the amount of times, you would like someone to believe.
Plus you should be glad you live in a building with modern Fire Protection! If you are bothered by a fire alarm ( WHICH WOULD SAVE YOUR LIFE ). Why then do you complain at all? Everthing at Teweles, insures you safty; allowing you to live.

Well. That was a mostly insane response to the original reviewer. I just had to comment myself on a few things.
Having visited the Teweles building several times a week for over a year, I can say that the lobby, common areas, elevators, hallways WERE filled with papers, garbage, "etc." as you mention, all weekend long. As well as shattered glass, unidentifiable food, beer cans, cigarettes, abandoned furniture, abandoned clothes, you name it, I could go on. And it was gross, as a visitor, to wade through all that garbage to visit someone. I can't imagine why someone would pay to live there. When my girlfriend asked why there wasn't a trash can in the lobby, she was told by the office that "they didn't want people cleaning out their cars" in the lobby trashcan. Instead, they just threw garbage on the street, sidewalk, lawn and lobby floors.
I don't see anyone asking for a private security officer "for every tenant." I think it's a legitimate complaint, after all the talk of car break-ins, a transitional neighborhood, and out of control tenant behavior, to say that management did not act on security concerns. My girlfriend moved out of this building for that exact reason - no one listened, nobody cared, and nothing ever got better.
Clearly, the response above is either from management or someone affiliated with management, who doesn't realize that most tenants aren't going to pay a premium rate to live in a dumpster. Teweles rates were NOT cheap, if you were paying market rate, and you really could do better elsewhere.
Oh and yeah - as for the police being there? They were there every weekend and sometimes on weeknights. In fact, they would often ring my girlfriends doorbell in the middle of the night trying to gain access to the building, acting on a complaint for another floor. If you want to be woken up at 2, 3, 4am on weeknights by idiot behavior, and woken up again when the police ring YOUR bell to enter, then you should really check out Teweles. It's lovely.
