I was really surprised to see the negative complaints on here. I moved in last summer and can honestly say that I have not experienced the same issues posted here by others.

My first electric bill was higher than I expected, but I narrowed it down to the main kitchen light, the water heater, and the thermosts. I took the plate off of my water heater and turned the temp settings down (there was 2 dials to turn down). I don't leave the kitchen light on all the time anymore either since it's the wattage of running a small microwave. There's also the thermostat - after I programmed it, it was not running all the time.

The office has been responsive. For my first work order they sent maintanence up the same day, and the 2nd time I left a voicemail after getting home from work. They called me back the next day and scheduled a time for someone to look at my washer (which they fixed). I used to rent an apartment on Kilbourn, and requesting repairs was like pulling teeth with my old landlord. It's nice not having to put up any kind of fight to get service.

I am going to renew my lease here. Living 10 minutes from work is a definate plus with all the snow we've been getting too.

One wonders why Teweles would choose such high-energy-use lighting fixtures for an affordable housing community. You'd also have to wonder why this reviewer's energy saver tips aren't being communicated by property management. It certainly sounds like it would make a big difference in energy bills. I'd like to concur that the maintenance man was extraordinarily responsive. He was impressively resourceful, pleasant to work with, and extremely committed to doing a quality job. It's unfortunate that his work ethic is not contagious among the staff, and that his contributions were limited by a threadbare budget.
