OK place to live

The Brittany Apartments have been my "home" for the past year. Although it is not a bad place to live, I believe they should raise their standards a bit. (**I am still living at these apartments and they have started making quite a few improvements! They are under new management and they've been great so far)
Pros:
The price is right. They offer a 2 bedroom 2 bath for $735 plus electric, cable and internet (they say $715 - but you have to pay for a second parking spot) and that is hard to come by in the greater Milwaukee area.
It's relatively quiet at night (There is a fire station across the street).
Safe area.
Allow month to month renting after a 6 month lease (add on $25 a month for month to month renting).
No bugs. I've found 1 spider in my apartment during the last year.
Heat is included. ** This is key in cold WI.
Maintenance is very responsive.
Large space for your money. I love my walk in closet - it's huge!
Cons:
Head manager is slightly abrasive (although assistant is very polite and sincere). (**Head manager was replaced when new management came in. Sue, the new manager, has been very nice and accomidating so far)
Single air-conditioning unit in living room. Don't count on it to do much for you, as they are very old. Ours looks to be from the 80's or early 90's and only works when it feels like it.
There are children and toys everywhere. I don't mind kids, but watch your step. My neighbor's kids leave toys all over the hallway... I've stepped on a few.
The light fixtures and kitchen cabinets are out of date. The whole decor for the complex is very 1980's.
The laundry machines have a tendency to "eat" quarters.
Apartment was not clean upon move-in. Toilet was a mess. Too disgusting to describe (although management did apologize profusely).
Although there are some negatives, I would still say this is an ok place to live. It's not a glamorous complex, but you can't beat the price and the new management has already made a lot of improvements to the property. I hear they're even putting in a fitness center. I anticipate more improvements to come with the new management.

Sue might have seemed nice, but it was all a cover up! She was fired due to stealing money (the owners never checked her history).
Ants, ants, ants....this place always has ant problems!
They've since up'd the rent. I believe it's $760 for a lower.
All the units/buildings were built in the 1970's. And I'm quite sure that most everything is from then (the cabinets, etc...)!

I put in an application with my husband today and over heard they were going to update the pool and playground this winter or spring. That would be awesome...This place may be older but it helps save up money for a house. We are looking to move in Jan and can't wait. For what you get, its awesome!
