I am a fairly new tennant (less than a year), and I have been pleased overall with my 2 bedroom apartment. I find the building is very well kept. The apartment was thoroughly cleaned when I moved in. I like having blinds for window treatments. The storage in the basement is quite adequate, as well as the additional storage space just off the patio. The laundry facilities and basement are very, very clean. The office staff is fairly responsive to requests. (I DON?T FEEL THAT WAY ANY MORE.)



There is ample parking, but do not make the mistake of parking on the street overnight without a permit from the Police Dept. (as I did)!!! The noise level from stereos and tvs is minimal. The area seems safe. (THERE HAVE BEEN A COUPLE OF INCIDENTS AT THE COMPLEX SINCE THEN. I AM NO LONGER CERTAIN OF SAFETY.)



The complex holds parties periodically so people can get to know each other. There is an outdoor pool and a fitness facility.



On the down side, I do find it to be noisier than where I used to live (a 2-family unit), but you get used to that. People thunder down the stairs like elephants, kids yell in the hallways, domestic fights, etc. For the most part, it is tolerable. Sometimes when I request repairs, I have to call more than once before they get done, but they do get done.

UPDATE: I REQUESTED A REPAIR BE DONE BEFORE I MOVED IN. I WAS TOLD THE ITEMS (4 REPLACEMENT DOORS - THEY HAVE HOLES PUNCHED IN THEM AND GRAFFITTI ON THEM) HAD TO BE ORDERED. I?VE CALLED THEM 4-5 TIMES ABOUT THIS. FINALLY, THE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY WERE IN (5 MONTHS LATER) AND THE REQUESTED REPAIRS WOULD BE FIXED THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY. IT WAS NOT. THAT WEEK I RECEIVED A NOTE ON MY DOOR THAT THE APT. MANAGER LEFT THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE COMPLEX. I CALLED AGAIN ABOUT THE REPAIRS. THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. I CALLED 2 WEEKS LATER, WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE NEW APARTMENT MANAGER, WHO TOLD ME THAT THE THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY RECORD OF THIS REQUEST, NOR OF ANY OF MY OTHER CALLS, SO THEY SUBMITTED THE REQUEST TO THE OWNER. I WAS TOLD MAINTENANCE SAID THE REPAIRS WERE NOT NECESSARY (''''''!!!!!!!!) AND MY REQUEST WAS DENIED. I AM VERY ANGRY. WE ARE STILL IN DISPUTE ABOUT THIS, AND I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN LIED TO AND TREATED WITH DISRESPECT. THE VERY LEAST THEY COULD HAVE DONE WAS TO GET BACK TO ME AND TELL ME THE REQUEST WAS DENIED.



Some people have complained to me that rent increases are high, but I have not experienced that yet. I was told by the manager that some years the rent increases have been minimal ($5-$10/month) and sometimes they have actually decreased, depending on current market. (WE?LL SEE -- IT?S COMING UP IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.)



I AM NOT SURE WHETHER I plan on staying there.
